Experimental Evaluation Of Mechanical Properties Of Polymer Composites With Natural Fibers

This project deals with the study of development of a polymer composite with natural fibers. The natural fibers utilized for this purpose include wood sawdust and hair fibre. The polymer composite is prepared by mixing the natural fibers (wood sawdust and hair fibre in 1:1 ratio) with epoxy. Mechanical testing was performed on the newly developed composite. Based on the testing performed, a study is conducted based on whether this newly developed composite can replace the existing materials of automobile applications. From the studies conducted, it has been observed that the newly developed natural composite showed fairly higher mechanical properties in comparison with ABS which is a leading material in automobile applications.
