  • Project Description: McDonald's is the world's largest American fast-food company.
  • Global Network Transformation (GNT) is a strategic initiative within McDonalds to transform the MPLS/VPN based Global Enterprise Network to a Zero Trust based access model to have more visibility and access control, while increasing the agility and introducing automation to optimize network operation activities. The approach McDonald’s has adopted to meet GNT objectives, is to lay the foundation for transitioning the existing McDonald’s Enterprise network infrastructure to Carrier Neutral Facilities (CNF). Six fully redundant CNFs with two in each of the three McDonald’s “Regions” (NA, EU, APMEA) are to be provisioned to meet the objectives.
  • All remote locations will pass through CNF locations within its region.
  • CNFs will have a full-mesh overlay defined between CNFs.
  • Spoke-to-spoke tunnels will only be created/allowed under certain limited circumstances.
  • All traffic must traverse a CNF location and its firewall for inspection prior to forwarding.
  • A HA pair of firewalls will be located within each CNF and be service chained (service insertion) to the Viptela hub devices.
  • Each CNF location will utilize Equinix Cloud eXchange (ECX) for connectivity to cloud providers.
  • All traffic – including spoke-to-spoke, spoke to CSP, and CSP to CSP must flow through the firewalls.
  • Inter-region traffic will (most-likely) traverse two CNFs including two firewall inspections.
  • Roles & Responsibilities:
  • It’s a New Data Centre setup for the customer in 3 regions (US, EMEA & APAC)
  • Each region has 2 Data Centres for redundancy.

  • ANIRA broadband access – Install 407 AT&T broadband gateways and access circuits in branches.
