Roles And Responsibilities

  • Lead Continuous EHS Improvements – Lead continuous improvement in Fire Safety & EHS using operational excellence principles and visible-felt leadership to achieve zero goals and to enable complaint operations and business effectiveness. Developing the Appropriate Organization Structure, Designing, Resource Plans & Build Culture to support the business Objectives.
  • Fire Safety & EHS by Design – Ensure the integration of EHS by design in all Fire Safety like Fire Alarm System, Deluge valve Fire Sprinkler System, Fire Suppression systems, Gas Suppression system, High velocity water spray sprinklers, Fire Hydrant System, Fire Prevention and Protection measures, Fire Tender Operations and Maintenance, Process development, changes to existing process development equipment according to relevant CAPEX process. Participate in the approval of new installations and machines, work closely with Engineering to define optimal solutions with layers of protection. Fire NOC for High Rise buildings compliance as per NBC 2005/ 2016 revised guidelines
  • Sustainability/ ESG – Leadership in implementing sustainability Goals. Handling and Analyzing all Sustainability Report related data and information, knowledge of sustainability reporting guidelines such as GRI, BRSR, (Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting), and Carbon Discloser Project (CDP), UNGC, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), ECOVADIS, Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), Exposure in GHG accounting and Carbon foot printing Environmental Metrics, Data Management and Analysis.

  • Process Safety Management – Risk Identification & CAPA Management: Identify the EHS risk from 14 elements of PSM, and define proactive mitigations. Ensure that the site investment and changes in processes, equipment and systems are carried out in accordance with the concept of EHS by design. EHS considerations/requirements in technology transfer, scale-up, Management of change, process safety information, process hazard analysis, HAZOP study, emergency/shut down safety preparation, pre-startup safety preparation, pre-startup safety review, site risk register, Risk assessment on machinery safety.   • Monitor, Analyze and share Fire Safety & EHS information- To Provide necessary information and data to site managers and supervisors other internal and external stake holders, in order to support the achievement of EHS objectives. Monitoring, review and ensure for all accident investigation and injuries, documented injuries, detailed events leading during and after the accident and recommendations made to fix hazards
  • Promote a Sustainable Fire Safety & EHS Culture: To Create and maintain an EHS culture throughout the site that inspires a proactive attitude and a firm belief target zero is achievable and sustainable. Create a space where people can speak openly new ideas about EHS stewardship. Effective Plans to Aim at ZERO Injury through Review of Plans & Employee Participation in Safety Drive. Tracking EHS Cultural transformation by focusing on visible felt leadership and frontline management. Employee engagement on EHS Behavior Based Safety, Contractor Safety Management, Permit to work, developing and conducting various safety training modules. Line accountability in implementation and sustenance of EHS system safety promotional activities.
  • Fire protection/ Prevention: Co-ordinate and advice on the firefighting facilities/equipment management. Schedule/plan, functional testing, periodical maintenance. Conduct audits to ensure the fire prevention measures are in place and to identify the areas for improvement. Periodic review of fire protection and safety facilities with respect to TAC/ NFPA/ NBC standards and implementation of deviations. Prepare the Pre fire plans and mitigation measures, such as procurement of various equipment, organizing mutual aid. Review of fire protection facilities with respect to NFPA and TAC norms and suggest for additional facilities like firewater pumps, foam system, Sprinkler system. Conducting Fire Load Calculations, Fire Risk Assessment, Trainings. Review of Deluge sprinkler system, Nitrogen blanketing system, FM 200, CO2 flooding system, DCP skid system and Fire/ Gas suppression system. Review of Detection systems like Hydrogen, Hydrocarbon, diborane, HCl, Cyanide, Chlorine, Phosgene and Bromine as per the process requirements.
  • Lead Fire & EHS Regulatory Compliances – Provide guidance to the site managers and employees, conduct internal and support audits, to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements, Review and Monitor Deviations from laws, rules & Established Practices. Ensure Compliance of all Legal Requirements. Liasioning with Fire & Emergency Services, Factories Department, Explosive licenses, CPCB, SPCB, MoEFcc to get EC, CFE, CFO and submission of various returns as per requirement. Handling of the Effluent Management System as per pollution control board guidelines.
