About Me
I am an enthusiastic researcher looking for opportunities to work in the areas of
alternate fuels combined with advanced combustion modes. The study of Internal
Combustion Engines has always been a fascination for me and so I have tried to
keep myself aligned as much as possible with the same, both in academics and work
thus far. I am interested in working with projects focussing on the synergy of
sustainable alternate fuels, both liquid and gaseous, and combustion modes that will
result in ultra-low emission coupled with good fuel economy.

Additional Information
DURING PhD
Biodiesel Production
Investigation into various surfactants suited to produce biodiesel-water
emulsions and development of a stirring machine to produce biodiesel-water
emulsion on a large scale of 12-15L
Modification of engine test setup to include the facilities for inlet manifold water
injection, and supply of humid air with the help of ultrasonic atomization
Development of a high-pressure fuel injection system using National
Instruments modules for modifying the existing experimental test setup to a
flexible engine test bed with CRDi injection system and inclusion of a heater
arrangement in the intake manifold as means to attain HCCI combustion mode
with the external mixture preparation method
Modification of OEM CRDi injector into a custom CRDi injector to mimic the
nozzle configuration of a mechanical fuel injector through a novel methodology
involving:
CT scan of the mechanical injector with an industrial scan machine to
identify the nozzle configuration
Blocking of the nozzle holes in the OEM CRDi injector with the aid of micro-
laser welding
Drilling customer holes in the blocked nozzle using micro-drills of the size of
0.27 mm and a five-axis CNC machine, available in-campus
Conducting experiments with the various fuels under:
Conventional combustion mode using the factory-fitted mechanical fuel
injection system with and without manifold water-injection
Conventional combustion mode using the custom-made CRDi injector under
conditions optimized for maximum Brake Thermal Efficiency
HCCI mode using the external mixture preparation method
Lean-premixed mode involving early and late injection (after TDC)
strategies
Conducting CFD investigations using CONVERGE tool for biodiesel under:
Conventional combustion mode at low and high load operating conditions
Lean premixed combustion mode with early and late injection
