Accomplishments

  • Assumed responsibility for the delivery of three LNG dual-fuel-propelled AFRAMAX tankers and four MR product tankers as Technical Superintendent during my tenure at Synergy. Taking note of excellent performance (especially considering the LNG bunker tank cleaning task in Nigeria and in Rotterdam), owners awarded Synergy with 3 more DF vessels. Took over management of all the 6 no. DF vessels as Technical Manager, fulfilling various roles within the company.
  • I oversaw the entire project of Rudder lower casting renewal on MOL vessel (Garnet Express). This was a 3-month project carried out at Keppel Shipyard, Singapore. I carried out the entire planning, budgeting, and execution of this project while maintaining close communication with the shipyard, manufacturers, owners, and ClassNK to ensure successful project completion. Details of this unique job was published in company journal.
  • As the Superintendent overseeing the AFRAMAX vessel Pacific Emerald, I coordinated its historic LNG bunkering operation in Singapore, marking the first-ever such operation for a tanker vessel in Singapore and Asia, as well as a first for Synergy. The event garnered significant attention, with details published in newspapers and on the webpages of FueLNG, AET, and Shell. Subsequently, we successfully conducted multiple LNG bunkering operations in Europe, US and in Asia (about 75 LNG bunkering operations completed successfully). Additionally, I was also actively involved in various compatibility studies related to LNG bunkering at different ports.
  • Successfully executed the winterization project for the MOL-owned vessel Garnet Express (chartered by Marathon). Completion of this three-month project enhanced confidence with Marathon, leading them to assign six Mariner series tanker vessels (owned by SINOKOR) to Synergy. Following the modification, the Garnet Express operated in the Alaskan region for approximately six months.
  • Engaged in the development of LNG-specific manuals for Synergy, as well as various LNG bunkering related checklists for both company-wide use and specific vessels.
  • Synergy PIC for new LNG DF/WlngWing and Methanol carrier projects. Vessels are expected in 2026. Well versed with HAZID/HAZOP workshops and related expectations.
  • Successfully completed 16 drydocking projects on vessels chartered by SHELL, Chevron, Marathon, MOL, and other companies, including vessels from MOL, Nissen Kaiun, Murakami Sekiyu, UML, ASAHI, Grace Ocean, and OOCL.
  • Synergy PIC to liaise with SGMF. I was also the member of the steering/working committee of SGMF LNG SMS related team representing Synergy.
  • The docking completion of the MOL-owned vessel Hakata Princess, including the installation of EGCS, allowed it to sail out approximately 10 days ahead of schedule, resulting in savings of around $1.5 million. Chevron Singapore issued a letter of commendation, specifically recognizing my vessel management, planning, and execution abilities.
  • Effective contract management resulted in a 30% cost saving, while negotiations and competitive selection of docks contributed to a 40% reduction in costs.
  • I led a team both ashore and in shipyards (in Nigeria and Damen shipyard) to conduct LNG bunker tank cleaning and filter line modification, marking the first attempt of its kind in Nigeria. Handling the entire budgeting and planning process, this highly critical task was executed safely, and the vessel departed without any issues, ensuring the task's completion with utmost safety. Similar exercise was carried out on sister vessel in Rotterdam (First time experience for Damen shipyard). These achievements instilled confidence in the owners, leading them to award Synergy with an additional three LNG dual-fuel AFRAMAX tanker vessels.
