Summary

My doctoral dissertation research is centered on analyzing the effects of sand mining on the morphology and flow structure of riverbanks and riverbeds. The methodology involves excavating an irregularly shaped sandpit from the upstream section of the laboratory experimental setup (at IIT Guwahati, India) to observe its impact on the stability of various riverbank slopes. Utilizing Nortek Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV) for measuring 3D instantaneous velocity data and Seatek Ultrasonic Ranging Systems (URS) for tracking changes in the channel bed, the work has been expanded to propose nature-based solutions to mitigate riverbank erosion under dredged conditions.
