Work History

Solar Array Team Lead

Badger Solar Racing
  • Increased solar array efficiency from 21% to 23% by optimizing roof layout with the mechanical team and conducting IV curve testing on 22 modules (using MPPT and a variable load board which I designed), resulting in improved power output
  • Designed, simulated, and tested a current sensor for single solar cell integration
  • Designed an array switch board for precharge of MPPT and isolation of the solar array from the rest of the car, meeting specific (American Solar Challenge (ASC)) safety and isolation requirements
  • Mentored and onboarded team of new members every semester

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC)
  • Responsible for the electrical design and integration of solar-powered Little Free Libraries (through a $5,000 grant from the City of Madison) retrofitted with solar PV panels, battery storage, and charging electronics
  • Tested existing electrical architecture and working on improvements for the next version of the system

Undergraduate Research Assistant, Alvarado Sustainability Scholar

Wisconsin Institute of Power Systems, UW/Madison
  • Currently conducting research with Wenqian Jiang and Professor Line Roald on reducing carbon emissions by limiting load-side consumption through convex optimization
  • I assist Wenqian in running GAMS code and data acquisition
  • Conducted research with Professor Dominic Gross on grid-forming control for power converters under unbalanced loading and faults last semester
  • My contribution was introducing a Delta-connected filter configuration, which provides ground-free operation, enabling plug-and-play functionality for GFM converters, and offers better flexibility compared to a star configuration

Research Intern

Indian Institute of Technology (BHU)
  • Designed a 15-25V boost converter, first in open-loop and then in closed-loop, ensuring the reference voltage (within a ±10 range of 25V) remained exactly the same even when the input voltage varied from 13-20V
  • Developed a PI controller and determined the P and I values by analyzing the Bode Plot of the converter and using the Ziegler-Nichols tuning method

Railways Traction Systems Intern

Northen Indian Railways
06.2024 - 08.2024
  • Developed understanding in railway traction systems, including 220/132/25 KV power transmission and fault detection using SCADA systems
  • Researched high voltage circuit breakers for railway traction systems
  • Delivered a report recommending SF6-based circuit breakers for isolation, highlighting their easier maintenance, reduced leakage, and lower risk of breakthroughs compared to vacuum and oil-based alternatives

Engineering Ambassador

College of Engineering
09.2023 - 05.2024
  • Conducted tours, presentations for prospective engineering students and their parents
  • Catered to their questions regarding the admission process and work with the College of Engineering advisors
