Title: Evaluation of Des-gamma-carboxy Prothrombin (DCP) as a Diagnostic Biomarker for Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), Institution: SDM University Medical College, Dharwad, Karnataka, Year: 2023
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of liver cancer, and early detection is essential for improving patient outcomes. Current diagnostic methods, such as alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), often lack sensitivity, particularly for smaller tumors or non-cancerous liver conditions. This study aimed to explore des-gamma-carboxy prothrombin (DCP) as a more reliable biomarker for the early detection of HCC. Clinical serum samples from HCC patients and healthy controls were analyzed to evaluate DCP levels. By investigating the potential of dual detection markers, the research sought to enhance diagnostic accuracy and facilitate the early identification of HCC The findings contribute to the development of multi-parametric, non-invasive diagnostic tools that could improve early-stage detection and monitoring of liver cancer, offering a potential pathway for better patient outcomes
