Over the past 16 years, I have made a successful track record of creating value for customers which has helped me play pivotal roles with leadership opportunities for conceptualising, launching new concepts and scaling existing exhibitions, conferences and virtual events globally in Future Technology, Future of Work, Future of Mobility, Manufacturing, Building materials, Architecture and Design sectors.   • I lead the portfolio of events for IET in India and South East Asia generating over INR 50M (650k USD) revenue.
  • Through these events IET provides a global knowledge network and thought leadership to facilitate the exchange of ideas and promote the positive role of science, engineering and technology in the world
  • Conceptualise, develop, manage and execute physical, virtual and hybrid events and make them sustainable and scalable
  • Created and developed the most important and neutral events platform in the region with flagship physical events like 3 editions of IoT India Congress, The Future of Work, 50 episodes of virtual events like the IET Digital Conversations and hybrid events like Future Tech Congress
  • These events saw combined attendees of over 15000 from 52 countries, 78% of which were CXOs and decision makers from 20 industries
  • Created and consulted thought leadership think-tanks of over 150 CXOs in areas of Future Technology, Mobity and Future of Work

  • Lead the CeBIT India event making it a leading IT, ICT Annual Trade Exhibition held in Bangalore, India with over 200 exhibitors, 9000 delegates from 9 countries
  • I took over this project as Event Director and helped the event achieve profitability in its third year of running – 2016, having broken even in the past year – 2015
  • Maximized yield (sales revenue per square meter) to Euro 250.
  • Built and implemented cost reduction strategies and industry best practices, reduced event expenses and streamlined planning and delivery.
  • 40% increment in total revenue and 30% in gross profit per transaction with 60% increment in visitor turnout in a year’s time over the past years.
  • 58% retention from the previous average of 22% in the past two years (industry average retention for exhibitions in India is between 30 to 35%).
  • Built a strong contributing global agents’ network.
  • Re-worked the visitor promotion strategy to reach influential decision makers directly through direct marketing actions and cultivating personal relationships through effective 360-degree marketing

Accomplishments

  • Setup office in the North region and grew the team at ABEC from 8 to 52 employees delivering 20 events in 4 years between 2012 to 2016
  • Set up one of the first Internet of Things (IoT) lab in the region with Intel and Bosch at the CeBIT India event with Software Technology Parks India (STPI) in 2016
  • Revived a failing event with Messe Frankfurt and launched the first ever smart manufacturing event in the region within 3 months while working with Thinc in 2017
  • Launched the first ever India Israel Innovation Center in India with Israel. First of its kind in India and 7th in the world during the IoT India Congress in 2018
  • Created a digital events platform within a week of turnaround time during Covid-19 at the IET which became the most attended digital platform with 50 events within a span of 20 months during 2020-21

Failures

  • Failed to create a buyer and seller meet during Acetech events in 2011 which taught me to try out different ideas which addressed the customer's need and also become a trending event
  • Failed as a regional head to put up a big event in Delhi with the existing team in my first year of posting as the regional head and learned that understanding employees and customers before making changes in critical. Also that once you grow people, business will start growing
