Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assessing, observing and providing routine and focused nursing care to the patient admitted in the unit
  • Preparing patients for surgical procedures
  • Performing IV cannulization, Ryles tube insertion, ET and oral suctioning, and other nursing procedures
  • Administering medications, blood, and blood products as prescribed by the attending consultant followed by all medication rights
  • Responding quickly to emergencies
  • Explaining treatment and procedures to enable parents/guardians to consent to treatment
  • Extensive experience in using equipment like cardiac monitor, Defibrillators, Infusion pump & Syringe pumps, Pulse oximeters
  • Connecting intravenous lines to administer medications and extract blood for investigations and evaluate the test results
  • Tracheostomy management and care
  • Maintaining proper records of Narcotic and Psychotropic drugs based on international guidelines
  • Observing strict hygiene, safety rules and ensuring that visitors also observe any rules in the unit; Acting as an Occupational and health safety commanding link
