Projects Handled

OPSMVS to BMC AMI OPS Automation conversion

  • The project is to convert all the existing automation from Broadcom OPSMVS to BMC AMI OPS Automaton product.
  • This conversion saved around $10M per year in license costs.
  • Worked with BMC counterparts to setup new automation with AMI OPS across 40 LPARs in a span of 15 months.
  • Converted 1000+ automation rules from OPSMVS to BMC AMI OPS
  • All the startup and shutdown automation were converted to Total Object Manager (TOM) for the IPLs, Created models in TOM to replicate the objects

Data Masking and Copying

  • Customers and internal developers had to copy production data to development regions for testing purposes. The NPPI data had to be masked for the data to be copied for testing purposes.
  • Worked with development and the test region management to create a tool that handles masking and copying to user defined datasets.,

FINRA Compliance Reporting

  • The project is to send the FINRA data to the compliance team.
  • Clock drift data was collected from the system and was consolidated and sent out., Spearheaded the task collecting the requirement and designed the flow
  • Executed the design and sent the data to FINRA within a short span of time.

WFA Sysplex Conversion

  • The project is to create a new sysplex for Wells Fargo to handle their transactions separately and effectively.
  • Identify the requirements in the new Sysplex, define the required core functionalities.

GDPS Hyperswap

  • The project is to install the IBM’s GDPS hyperswap in place of the PPRC replication.
  • This required creation of the new control sysplexes to handle the GDPS processes.
  • The control systems required basic tasks and functionalities of Automation

PEM to BEM Conversion

  • The alerts for the operator console were previously sent to the Patrol Event Manager (PEM). They had to be converted to suit the BMC Event Manager (BEM) after BMC retired PEM.
  • The Auto-operator rules had to be changed and consolidated for easier maintenance in the future.
  • Involved in the planning and design phase of the project
  • Prepared a plan to consolidate the rules that had similar functionality,
  • Test all the new rules in a test environment and compare the alerts with the alerts from PEM to make sure all the alerts are reported.

Netview Retirement

  • Netview, a product of CA, used for the network automation was retired as a part of major cost savings effort.
  • The commands that were used frequently on the Netview was implemented as pseudo commands on the OPSMVS.
  • The retirement project was to code the panels using the ISPF panels facility and incorporating in the OPS/MVS user panels.
  • Involved in the planning and the design phase of the task, Developed a generic code and dynamic ISPF panels so that the maintenance of the code will be easy.

Event Management Framework Integration

  • This project was started to integrate the mainframe automation between Pershing and BNY Mellon mainframe systems
  • The objective of this project is to have a common framework in both the organizations.
  • Involved in the planning and design phase of the event management framework integration., Analyzed the whole of the rule libraries on the BNY mainframe systems and prepared a project plan for the conversion of the rule/rexx libraries.
  • Worked on installing the event management framework on the BNY systems and then on the conversion of the rule/rexx libraries to use the event management framework., Performed testing of all the changes done.

Event management Architecture

  • This project aimed at developing and implementing a common framework for mainframe automation. Various features include CICS/MQ transaction monitoring, application jobs monitoring, automated IPLs, and setting up the Event management framework for the Operations personnel.
  • The Event management framework is the core part of the mainframe automation which was built around OPS/MVS.
  • Propose updates to the event management framework for senior management approval.
  • Develop and test the code on the maintenance systems prior to implementation in production environment.
  • Do an impact analysis and complete a feasibility study of the changes proposed., Analyze the new feature requests from the support/application groups and develop a prototype of the requests.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Designed and maintained the enterprise-wide mainframe automation framework, ensuring seamless operations and reducing manual workload by 30%+.
  • Collaborated with Service Delivery teams to analyze requirements, plan automation strategies, and implement scalable solutions, improving system efficiency.
