• 1. Promotes safe and effective patients care practices in collaboration with the Head Nurse and Nurse Manager of the unit.
• 2. Establishes and maintains an effective workload assignment of Nursing Staff based on patient acuity.
• 3. Attends and supervises daily Doctors’ unit rounds and also follows administrators round.
• 4. Helps the Head Nurse in the assessment of nursing needs of patients based on information obtained from the members of the healthcare team.
• 5. Participate in the development and implementation of educational activities.
• 6. Serves as a role model for staff and assumes the responsibility of head Nurse in the absence of the latter.
• 7. Leads endorsement rounds.
• 8. Helps the Head Nurse in evaluating performance of Staff Nurses and maintaining a working environment conducive to open communication, cooperation and staff development through the use of effective communication skills.
• 9. Directs the Nursing Staff in establishing and coordinating a plan of care which includes teaching and discharge plan based upon judgments’ from information gathered from the nurse’s assessment and re-assessment.
• 10. Disseminates information regarding circulated memoranda.
• 11. Responsible for safekeeping of narcotic cabinet key.
• 12. Periodically checks equipments in the unit and ensures safe and proper utilization and functions of such.
• 13. Maintains a list of additional request of medical supplies and equipments needed in the unit and keep the Head Nurse updated.
• 14. Manager and takes direct, appropriate action in emergencies.
• 15. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing intervention and maintains appropriate, timely documentation to ensure continuity of care.
