1. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

Ensure all rig operations comply with company HSE policies and international standards (ISO, OSHA, API).

Verify adherence to regulatory requirements related to drilling, production, chemical handling, and environmental protection.

2. Daily Safety Monitoring

Conduct daily rig-floor inspections, safety rounds, and audits.

Observe high-risk operations such as drilling, tripping, mud handling, crane operations, and pressure testing.

3. Permit to Work (PTW) System

Review and authorize permits for hot work, confined space entry, working at height, and isolation/LOTO.

Ensure all permits have proper risk assessments and control measures.

4. Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification

Prepare and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA), HAZID, and HAZOP activities.

Monitor barriers for process safety and identify potential operational hazards.

5. Emergency Response Coordination

Participate and assist in emergency drills (fire, blowout, man-overboard, H₂S release).

Ensure emergency equipment (SCBA, fire extinguishers, lifeboats, alarms) is operational.

6. Incident Reporting & Investigation

Record, report, and investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.

Recommend corrective actions and ensure follow-up until closure.

7. Safety Training & Awareness

Conduct HSE inductions for new crew members.

Deliver toolbox talks, weekly safety meetings, and specialized training (H₂S, PPE, first aid, confined space).

8. Environmental Protection

Monitor waste management, spill prevention, and pollution control activities.

Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, drilling fluids, and hazardous materials.

9. PPE Management

Ensure correct PPE is worn (FR clothing, boots, gloves, H₂S monitors).

Inspect PPE regularly for defects.

10. Coordination & Communication

Work closely with OIM (Offshore Installation Manager), Toolpusher, Drilling Supervisor, and other departments.

Communicate safety concerns and follow up on corrective actions.

11. Safety Documentation

Maintain records of inspections, audits, toolbox talks, training, and incident reports.

Ensure safety policies and emergency procedures are updated and displayed.

12. Monitoring Safety-Critical Equipment

Verify alarms, gas detectors (H₂S, CH₄), firefighting equipment, and lifeboats are regularly tested.

Ensure proper certification for lifting gear, cranes, and pressure vessels.
