• Design high voltage power substations for utilities.
• Create physical & electrical design drawings and specifications for new & existing projects

Designs include but are not limited to:

• One line diagrams - Simplified Relay Protection Scheme for overall design
• General arrangement drawings - Plan & Elevation layouts for construction
• Grounding grid layout - Grounding system for safe operation inside the substation
• Cable and conduit details/ Cable schedule - Cable requirements to connect all substation equipment
• Connection diagrams - Connection to provide Control & indication to devices.
• Control house layout - Efficient layout to accommodate all indoor electrical equipment
• Three line diagrams - Potential & Current circuits for Relaying & metering
• Communication schemes SCADA- Designing communication diagrams.
• Control schemes-Designing control diagrams.
• Wiring diagrams from schematics - Point to point wiring to connect all devices to relay panels and substation equipment.

Duties also include:

• Performing engineering calculations such as cable sizing and AC/DC auxiliary system sizing.
• Preparing Relay Panel specifications/contracts and generating BOM.
• Preparing construction specification documents.
• Communicating with vendors to approve vendor submittals and direct corrections as required.
• Performing Quality Control and check according to company policies by reviewing design drawings, schemes and approval documents.
• Applying field mark-ups of project as-built drawings and creating record drawings as required.
• Communicating and coordinating project activities with project manager, client representatives, and others as needed.
• Maintaining good working relationships with material suppliers / vendors, contractors, and any others that affect the quality, schedule and cost of projects
• Analyzed operability requirements for upgrades and new equipment installations.

• Provided instructional support for NDSU students individually or in small groups at the Academic Collegiate Enhancement (ACE) Center-NDSU.
• Assisted in specific strategies to help students be more successful in Mathematics courses including Math 103,146,165,166,129/128, 259, and Math 266.
• Encouraged students to develop confidence and to become more independent learners.
• Stayed up to date with coursework and went through tutor evaluations time to time.
• Visually inspected and tested machinery and equipment, performing routine preventive maintenance.
• Organized and directed maintenance shutdowns and startups.

• Assisted in developing documentation and calculations for projects focusing on Gas Insulated Substations (GIS)
• Assisted in preparing and reviewing cable sizing calculations for phase, ampacity, cut-off current and permissible thermal stress at short circuit (MCB); also studied and reviewed single line diagrams (SLDs) for power distribution relevant to the documents compiled
• Under careful supervision of the Project Manager and Design Engineers extensively used various software packages such as MS Office and Adobe to create databases for GIS 220/132/66/11 KV substation(s)
• Prepared and compiled all As-built drawings, schematics, O&M Manuals, Test Reports for GIS 220/132/66/11 KV substation(s); also used soft linking to facilitate easy retrieval of compiled drawings and documents
• Performed troubleshooting and repair for complex electrical equipment.

• Analyzed operability requirements for upgrades and new equipment installations.

• Cleaned and lubricated parts to keep equipment operating at peak performance
