Description : SADM is one of the mission critical systems in the satellite. The solar arrays are used generating power for the satellite. The payload area available inside the heat shield of the launch vehicle will not be sufficient to keep these appendages in deployed state. These appendages are flexible in nature and cannot withstand the launch vibrations if kept deployed during launch. Hence it is essential to stow these appendages on to the satellite body during launch and to deploy them once the satellite is in orbit by a ground command, thus mechanisms are required.
