Worked in the fields of Aviation / Meteorology and Man / Material Management for 15 years of Glorious service with pride in the Indian Navy which includes Operational / Staff work at Ashore and afloat billets. As a senior sailor with middle manager rank of Petty Officer, worked for 10 years and retiring on 31 Jan 2024. SAFETY OPERATIONS/ FIREFIGHTING AND NBCD

  • Managing and handling the safety equipment, being used in Aviation, parachutes, harness and dinghies
  • Formulating and implementing safety systems and managing overall safety operations of the aircraft.
  • Ensuring the safety of the goods stored in the aircraft. Leading the safety cell to analyze the causes and reduce accidents, fire accidents and increase awareness towards maintenance of safe working condition.
  • Supervising the firefighting operation on board ships and establishments.
  • Conducting evacuation drill at random.
  • Elementary knowledge in nuclear warfare and preventive action for minimizing causalities.

AREA OF EXPOSURE

(A) NAVAL AIRMAN AND METEOROLOGY

  • Observing and recording changing Meteorological parameters
  • Disseminating information in international coded formats, to other Meteorological offices through PC based transmission systems.
  • Receiving decoding and plotting Meteorological parameters / observations on Meteorological charts from PCTP & DRAS, World Space Receiver.
  • Record & compute Upper Air data with aid of Pilot Balloon, Digicora and Upper Air Sounding System (UASS).
  • Ensuring the the efficient handling of modern Meteorological equipment.
  • Assisting in the preparation of PC based weather briefings and maintenance of various logbooks.

(B)LEADING AIRMAN AND METEOROLOGY

  • Executing duties of an Aviation Watch Keeper.
  • Operating sophisticated weather instruments including Automatic Weather Observation System, Automatic Visual Range Assessor, Upper Air Sounding System, and weather satellite Receiver.
  • Assisting the Met Officer in preparing weather forecast and PC based briefings.
  • Preparing and disseminating weather messages in Global Telecommunication Hubs, updating weather log books.
  • Undertaking maintenance of all met equipment/ instruments.
  • Carrying out duties of an Assistant in – charge of the Met Reference Library.

(C) PETTY OFFICER AIRMAN METEOROLOGY

  • Monitoring the inflow of weather data from various sources as in-charge for the surface and Aviation Watch Keepers.
  • Preparing a computerized climatologically database of station.
  • Supervising performance of juniors, overseeing correct and neat plotting of data on charts.
  • Keeping a vigil on changing Meteorological conditions and issuing timely weather warnings.
  • Care and Maintenance of Meteorological Instruments/ Equipment and imparting instructions.
  • Satellite picture reception and recording, maintenance of Satellite Ground Receiving systems and updating of weather data on the computer.
  • Noting and recording Pilot Balloon, Digicora and Upper Air Ascent observations.
  • Conducting In-house Practical and Theoretical Training in the field of Meteorology and Oceanography.
  • Executing the tasks of an Asst Manager – Material of the Department.
  • Carrying out operations of First Aid, Firefighting and Damage Control Equipment of the department on board ships.
