The implementation of Tollbooth automation via the Zigbee network serves as an expedient solution to the growing concern of prolonged waiting periods at toll booths. Utilizing the 89c52 microcontroller installed in vehicles, data pertaining to the vehicle's details and destination are wirelessly transmitted to the tollbooth's microcontroller through the medium of a Zigbee transceiver. The journey details, whether one or two ways, selected by the user, are conveyed to the tollbooth, such that upon nearing the Zigbee range, billing is automatically executed. Additionally, commercial vehicles, such as buses and trucks, are provided with a prepaid facility, whereby upon entering the Zigbee range, the payable amount is automatically deducted from the prepaid account and the balance is displayed on the user's screen, thereby effectively reducing the waiting times at queues in toll booths.
