Networking Projects

  • ARP and ICMP Packet Analysis & Network Troubleshooting, Captured and analysed ARP and ICMP packet behavior using Wireshark. Identified IP conflict through Gratuitous ARP messages. Troubleshot network issues to enhance device communication and reliability.
  • DHCP Packet Capture, Analysis & Troubleshooting using Wireshark, Captured and analyzed the DHCP DORA process (Discover, Offer, Request, Acknowledge) using Wireshark. Observed how the DHCP server receives a Discover from the client and responds with an Offer containing IP address, subnet mask, router, DNS, lease time, and DHCP Server ID. Verified that the client requests the offered configuration via DHCP Request, and the server finalizes the process with a DHCP ACK. Ensured correct packet flow and confirmed successful dynamic IP assignment without conflicts.
  • OSPF Project, Configured OSPF routing protocol on multiple routers across different areas. Assigned router IDs, configured network statements, and verified OSPF neighbor adjacency. Designed and implemented a multi-area OSPF setup, including Area 0 (Backbone), Stub Area, and NSSA (Not-So-Stubby Area). Verified and analysed OSPF Link-State Advertisements (LSAs) Types 1 through 7 for route distribution and area summarization. Ensured OSPF convergence, optimized path selection using SPF (Shortest Path First) algorithm, and maintained loop-free routing.
  • EIGRP & VRRP Project, Set up VRRP to automatically switch routers if one fails, ensuring continuous connectivity. Used EIGRP to let routers share routes and find the best paths across the network. Built and tested a layered Cisco network with automatic backup routing. Confirmed full internet access by pinging and tracing the path to destination. Analysed VRRP and EIGRP traffic using Wireshark to monitor protocol behavior.
