Everyday, I am committed to creating comfortable learning environments for LGBTIQA+ students by wearing my rainbow lanyard to show I am an ally and supporting Wear it Purple Day, I show students my classroom is a place where everyone belongs.
As the NSW Teachers Federation Representative in my workplace, I liaise with teacher members everyday about their concerns relating to psychosocial hazards, workload, administrative issues, and inappropriate behaviours of some staff that make them feel unmotivated to be at work. I provide meaningful advice to these teachers and help to build their capacity to face these challenges and resolve them. In addition, regularly meet with the principal of the school to raise issues of the teachers members and, when necessary, question the basis for custom and practice as well as propose solutions for consideration.
