As General Manager(IT), I was responsible for both SAP ABAP and New Technology.
Apart from my ongoing responsibility in maintaining the ECC 6 SAP landscape and HANA preparatory assignments, I was responsible for introducing new technology like Robotic Process Automation (RPA), video analytics thru Drone etc. in the organization.
RPA implementation in Commercial Billing in NTPC has won many accolades and recognitions including SKOCH award 2023.
As AGM(IT) my major responsibility included managing the entire SAP Development (ABAP) landscape, ensuring timely and quality development of new ABAP solutions, and ensuring maintenance of the entire custom code repository as per ASAP methodology and other Quality standards.
Major projects during this period like GST implementation, NTPC USSC implementation were handled entirely by NTPC ABAP team.
Another major responsibility was preparation for the upcoming HANA migration during this period. This included finalization of the scope and Bill of Material, specially in the new technology stack BTP (Business Transformation Platform") and also the scope of implementation partner in a complete brownfield migration.
As the Head of IT at the project site at Solapur, Maharastra, I was responsible for overall IT activities of the project.
My work included setting up of a state-of-art IT and Communication infrastructure at the project location, and establishing proper WAN connectivity within the organization and with outside entity.
Rollout of SAP in this new locations and other software development was also a part of my deliverables.
Was member of the initial Core Team for SAP ECC 6 implementation and was the ABAP team Lead ABAP. and team member of Material Management module in SAP.
As Team Lead ABAP, I was responsible for design and development and implementation of major custom (Z) modules and custom enhancements as was required by NTPC's business requirement. The technology stack included classic ABAP, Workflow, Web DynPro and XI.
NTPC has copyrights for some of the major development and was awarded SAP Global Localization Award for its Z development.
Post Go-Live, the maintenance and updates and upgrades were handled by NTPC's ABAP Team, major ones being EHP4, EHP6 and EHP8 enhancement packs.
The current landscape consists of 2000 plus major custom development and major integrations within and outside the organization. This include Power Industry specific module of Fuel management, an independent module tightly integrated with other modules in SAP.
As part of the Core Team, I worked in Material Management module in the Pre Go-Live phase, in both configuration, data migration and training. I was the Rollout Manager of a major Power Plant of NTPC.
Was part of the initial 10 member Core Team for procurement an effective ERP solution for NTPC. The package included Supply of the product license for an user base around 25000 users, spanning across Thermal, Gas and Hydro Power stations, Corporate and Regional offices, Installation of the product and maintenance after Go-Live at around 40 locations.
Work involved preparation of a suitable RFP for the procurement of the above package for the product ans implementation partner and subsequent technical evaluation of the offered bids.
