
I am a chemistry research professional, worked for over 10 years in synthesis of specialty chemicals. Good experience in setting up and running a big R&D facility. Key technology development in flow chemistry and vapor phase chemistry using fixed bed reactora. Good understanding in process safety. Process development experience in photo-Cl/Br, chlorination, nitration, hydrolysis, isomerization, C/N-alkylation, adsorption, ammoxidation, diazotization, nitrilation and hydrogenation.
Heading strategic technology group consisting of 21 scientists. Vapor phase chemistries: N-alkylation, glycerol deoxygenation, alkane nitration, hydrodechlorination, hydrogenation. Stirred batch chemistry: photochlorination, catalysis preparation, poly aluminium chloride, etc.
Commissioned a new state of art strategic technology laboratory with specialized FBRs, photoreactor, jacketed glass reactor. Board approved 1500 CR investment for commercialization of projects developed in last three years. Started development of vapor phase alkane nitration, N-alkylation, glycerol deoxygenation and C-alkylation. Solved key isomer balance problem of organization by developing isomerization technology of substituted chlorobenzenes using two approaches: zeolite catalyzed in FBR and AlCl3 catalyzed in CSTR.
Transitioned to leadership team of organization. Strengthened the Strategic Technology group with a strong team of 21 scientist (including 6 PhDs). Successful piloting of key coral value chain technologies photochlorination, hydrolysis and nitrilation (Ar-CCl3 to Ar-CN).
Created Strategic Technology R&D group to drive the key technology development responsible for organization growth. Developed photochlorination, ammoxidation and hydrolysis technologies as a part of new chlorotoluene value chain for the organization. Implemented electronic lab notebook and achieved paperless laboratory. Digitized tacit knowledge of the organization.
Headed technical design, procurement and commissioning of new R&D facility with capacity of over 350 scientists. Scale up of substituted aniline to phenol process at 10,000 MTA scale.
Team lead process R&D. Scale up of O-alkylation chemistry of anilines at 80 bar pressure and 280 °C temperature.
Headed R&D on design of low cost manually operated and portable water purifiers, involving concept design, prototyping and testing of the product.
Taught high school students for joint entrance exam (JEE) for admission into IITs.
