Work History

Post Doctoral Fellow

ICMR-National Institute of Immunohematology
Mumbai
10.2021 - Current
  • Presently, I am working as an ICMR-Post Doctoral Fellow at ICMR-National Institute of Immunohematology, Parel Mumbai under guidance of Dr Manisha Madkaikar, Department of Pediatric Immunology and Leuckocyte biology. Working on a project titled- ‘Radiation sensitivity assessment in Inborn errors of Immunity (IEI) patients with actinopathies’.
  • As IEI patients are routinely exposed to radiation either during diagnosis or treatment, here I am assessing differential gamma radiation sensitivity in these patients with diseases such as Wiskott Aldrich syndrome, Leukocyte adhesion deficiency, DOCK 8 etc. This will help clinician do define the dose regimen for these immune compromised patients. Firstly we are doing routine IEI work ups for these patients followed by molecular analysis to find underline disease mutation. Flow cytometry-based radiation sensitivity panel for DNA damage and repair proteins to evaluate in radiation exposure in target patients was used.
  • Major areas of job role / responsibilities in current organization:
  • Molecular identification of disease variants using NGS or Sanger Sequencing
  • Functional Validation of the identified mutation with variants of uncertain significance
  • Flow cytometry based radiation sensitivity panel
  • Affinity precipitation followed by Western Blotting for Cdc42
  • Clinical follow up of the patients

CIS Summer Trainee

  • Presented a case entitled- ‘A clinical conundrum with diagnostic and therapeutic challenge: A tale of two disorders in one case’
  • Shadowed Senior faculties in the field of clinical immunology to learn in dept cases of inborn errors of immunity diseases.

Research Associate

ICMR- National Institute of Immuno Haematology
Mumbai
01.2020 - 10.2021
  • Molecular workup for identification of mutations in patients with Inborn errors of Immunity (IEI)
  • Established flow cytometry based culture assays for evaluation of protein expressions including LRBA, GRA, WAS etc
  • Also started western blotting and CRISPER-CAS9 facility in the present lab for functional validation of unresolved IEI cases.
