  • Developed an Intra Operative Neuro Monitoring Device, to locate and monitor the functional integrity of the Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve, during Thyroidectomy surgeries.
  • The amplitude and the latency of the CMAP from point of stimulation was studied.
  • Designed and developed a stimulator which can stimulate the nerve of interest and a EMG recording circuit to record the CMAP response from the muscle innervated to the respective nerve.
  • Stimulation is given with a bipolar electrode and the corresponding EMG from the muscle is recorded using needle electrodes.
  • The recorded signals were amplified and filtered with analog circuit and digitized with teensy microcontroller.
  • The CMAP was plotted and displayed on a GUI, which I developed using python.
  • The hardware used for operation of GUI is a raspberry pi 4 and 5-inch touch screen display.
  • Clinical trials were performed using this device.
