• Serve as the subject-matter expert for HS/HTS, ECCN/ECN, and GRI application—validating product classifications, documenting rulings, and overseeing AD/CVD, FTA, and duty-drawback strategies that optimize duty spend while remaining compliant.
• Gather functional requirements, and lead cross-functional delivery of scalable tools (broker integrations, screening engines, classification automation) that embed compliance controls into day-to-day operations.
• Act as the single-threaded owner linking Business, Operations, Supply Chain, and Legal—aligning stakeholders on risk thresholds, escalation paths, and corrective action plans.
• Design and roll out targeted training, mentoring, and awareness programs that elevate compliance competency across ops teams; measure effectiveness through audit scores, and incident reduction.
• Lead Kaizen and root-cause initiatives to eliminate process gaps, reduce cycle times, and enhance control effectiveness—driving year-over-year reductions in compliance findings, and import/export delays.
• Draft, maintain, and audit process documents, control matrices, and responsibility assignments in line with ISO 9001 and company quality-management requirements, ensuring clear evidence of risk controls for internal and external audits.

• Providing global import (HTS) and export (ECCN) classification/ruling guidance to programs that will result in duty savings, ultimately benefiting the programs and, in turn, supporting internal business units to ensure compliance with Customs regulations and other trade requirements.
• Work with Amazon’s internal technology teams to develop a best-in-class trade compliance process that can scale up.
• Ability to leverage data for continuous improvement of trade compliance at Amazon.
• Monitor and audit data to ensure the accuracy of classifications, and conduct Root Cause Analysis in conflicting incidents.
• Supporting in formulation, implementation and tracking the trade compliance policies
• Mentoring team to manage quality, improve efficiency and regular trainings to ensure high standards in classification.

Responsible for managing the continued development and implementation of a Global Trade Compliance program. Responsibilities include:

• Work with Business Operations to ensure transactions go through established processes and procedures for trade compliance.
• Review boycott language in contracts.
• Review the product ECCN. If a U.S. export license is needed, coordinate with vendors to obtain one.
• Review and resolve DPL (Denied Party List) hits.
• Ensure the availability of EUS (End User Statement) as needed, and ensure the quality is maintained.
• Checks for red flags.
• Obtain and ensure that proper ECCNs are maintained in SAP.
• Performs regular pre-shipment and post-shipment audits of documents, and approves transactions.

• Complying with internal controls, policies, and procedures, and regularly reviewing and updating procedures and documentation; analyzing trade-related information on various countries; identifying and effectively escalating any potential trade compliance-related issues to the appropriate person, and suggesting corrective actions to address the issues.
