As the Chief Officer, I serve as the second-in-command, directly responsible to the Master for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. My role encompasses a broad spectrum of duties, from overseeing deck operations to ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations.

• Cargo Operations: I lead the planning and execution of cargo operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company procedures. This includes overseeing loading, discharging, and tank cleaning operations, and maintaining accurate records such as Cargo Manifests and the Cargo Record Book.
• Ballast Exchange & Tank Cleaning: I manage ballast exchange operations and supervise tank cleaning processes, particularly during sensitive cargo changeovers. For instance, I successfully oversaw a complex tank cleaning operation on a 15-year-old tanker to convert cargo tanks for loading edible oils, adhering to strict food-grade standards.
• Cargo Handling Equipment: I ensure the proper maintenance and operation of cargo handling equipment, including pumps and valves, and oversee the testing and certification of related machinery.
• Safety Officer Duties: I carry out the responsibilities of a Safety Officer, conducting regular safety drills, maintaining safety equipment, and ensuring compliance with the Safety Management System.
• Ship Security Officer (SSO): I implement and maintain the Vessel Security Plan, conduct security drills, and ensure compliance with the ISPS Code
• Environmental Protection: I oversee the maintenance of oil spill response equipment, manage garbage disposal in accordance with the Garbage Management Plan, and maintain the Oil Record Book on oil tankers
• Navigational Watch: I maintain a safe and efficient navigational watch, ensuring compliance with international regulations and company procedures.
• Operational Readiness: I ensure the vessel's readiness for sea by supervising mooring/unmooring operations, securing decks, and verifying the condition of life-saving and fire-fighting equipment
• Training & Mentorship: I conduct onboard training sessions, safety drills, and emergency response management, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. I also mentor junior officers and deck ratings, guiding them in their professional development.
• Requisition Management: I prepare and scrutinize requisitions for deck stores, spares, and paints, ensuring that quality and quantity conform to the order.
• Operational Excellence: I identify operational deficiencies and implement corrective and preventive actions, ensuring continuous improvement in vessel operations.
• Strategic Planning: I contribute to the development of operational processes, procedures, and engagement programs to comply with federal, state, local, and corporate policies and regulations.

• Handled voyage planning and bridge navigation for global routes.
