RESPONSIBILITIES

  • AIX Responsibilities:
  • User Management - Creating, maintaining, and removing users and groups. Security settings on user accounts and groups.
  • Installation, migration and maintenance of AIX operating System Administration and performance monitoring Task on AIX servers.
  • File system management using LVM, User, Patch and Security Management, Problem determination.
  • Accessing rootvg in system maintenance mode, recovering root password, fixing booting related issues, working with boot list.
  • Performing daily health checks of all supported servers and taking steps proactively if any findings observed.
  • Disk Storage Management in AIX – Logical and Physical Volume management, configuring disks, working with volume groups, logical volumes, and physical volumes.
  • Mirroring volumes groups, logical volumes and working ODM and VGDA and fixing related issues.
  • Monitoring the system, cpu, memory and disk utilization using topas, sar, vmstat, netstat, nmon, etc
  • Working with paging spaces – creation, increase, decrease paging spaces as per the requirement.
  • Server OS Installation, APAR, PTF and ML, TL installation and management. Installing any third-party tools as and when required. Using alternate disk installation method for the same for critical servers to reduce down time.
  • NFS Administration, exporting file stems, mounting exported filesystems, working nfs daemons and fixing any mounting issues.
  • Configuration of new devices using cfgmgr – faulty disk Replacement incase of any disaster. Working with mirrored logical volumes. Device management, including adding, changing, and configuring physical and logical devices
  • Working on HMC, administering, configuration of VIO, LPAR, DLPAR nodes, resource allocation, moving resources as when required dynamically. Mapping vio devices to partitions.
  • Working with HMC, creating, configuring logical partitions, performing dlpar operations on dlpar nodes, installing OS on lpars using NIM etc.
  • Configure MPIO in dual VIOS configuration, configuring SEA failover.
  • Configuring NPIV on dual VIOS setup.
  • Installation and new server build for AIX Operating System. Installing AIX in Complete over write, preservation and migration modes.
  • Performing installations using NIM master. Building NIM resources, recovering servers using mksysb NIM resources etc..
  • Monitoring system by using errpt and troubleshoot system problems.
  • Adding, Modifying and Deleting user group accounts in AIX
  • Configuration of VIO Clients and installation of OS on VIO Clients through NIM server
  • Profile Creation Server Build and OS Installation File system creation, Tools Installation and Performing Quality Analysis on servers
  • Hands on Experience on LVM like detecting Disks, creating pv, vg, lv, creating file system, extending, reducing
  • Having Knowledge on RAID LEVELS
