RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

A study of Liquid–Liquid extraction, separation of metal ions using Cyanex-925 was undertaken. The extractant Cyanex 925 is a liquid mixture consists of 26.4 % tri (2, 4, 4- trimethyl pentyl) phosphine oxide and 65.9 % tri-octyl phosphine oxide as major components. While, the other components consist of sulphur compounds. The extractant has been manufactured by Cytec Inc., Canada, and provided as a gift sample. The optimum conditions of extractability of the metal ions like Ga (III), In (III), Tl (III), Al (III), Be (II), Bi (III), Sb (III), Mo (VI) and W (VI) were found separately as a function of pH, temperature, equilibrium time and stripping ability.

INSTRUMENTAL PROFICIENCY

  • High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) - Waters Alliance 2695, Agilent 1200, Empower 2, ChemStation
  • Gas Chromatography (GC) - Perkin Elmer Clarius 480, Empower 2/ChromQuest
  • Dissolution tester - Electrolab, Lab India, Erweka
  • UV-Visible - Perkin Elmer, Shimadzu, Agilent, Respective Proprietary software
