Joshua Khumlianlal

Microbiologist and biotechnologist with extensive experience from the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, specializing in fungal and bacterial research. Proficient in DNA extraction, PCR amplification, and metagenomic data analysis, leading to effective identification and barcoding of microorganisms. Demonstrated success in nutritional and phytochemical analysis, characterizing antimicrobial compounds and secondary metabolites to combat drug-resistant pathogens while ensuring safety evaluation. Committed to driving innovation in microbiological research to contribute to global health solutions.

• Cleared GATE(Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2017.
• Supervised BVoc. MLT students in their research dissertation for their BMLT course.
• Collected, sequenced, and identified 86 wild mushroom species based on ITS sequencing, which belong to 45 genera 25 families and 10 orders from unexplored forest of Manipur.
• Published 1 book and 3 peer-reviewed research articles as a first author, and 5 peer-reviewed research articles as a co-author during my PhD.
• Participated and presented poster presentation on, “Bio compounds of Macrolepiota turbinata and in vitro studies of antioxidant and antibacterial activities”, at the Asian Mycological Congress 2021 held from 3rd to 5th August 2022 at Thailand Science Park Convention Center, Pathum Thani, Thailand.
• Participate and presented oral presentation on, “Study of the diversity and pharmacological
  property of Macrofungi from three Districts of Manipur” at 7th Convention: Society for Ethnopharmacology, India & International Symposium from 17th to 19th 2020 on virtual mode.
• Presented a talk on, “Mushroom, the gold mine of functional components and bio-active
  compounds for modern medicine” at the ‘International Webinar on Current Research Trends in
  Biological Science’ organized by the Department of Botany, Churachandpur Government College, Manipur, India on 1st August 2020.
