Roles and Responsibilities
Process Safety and General Safety
- Conducting and reviewing of Risk assessment, Impact assessment, HAZOP study (Hazard and Operability Study) considering process safety studies for running products at site.
- Review of change controls in the perspective of safety issues, and also raises management programs if required.
- Having good knowledge of process engineering techniques like orifice calculations, vent sizing, heat load calculation, condenser capacity calculations, balance chemistry, and Inertization calculation.
- Proficient in interpreting process safety laboratory data reports, including Thermal Stability data, Reaction Calorimetry (RC) data and Powder Safety data.
- Led and monitored key projects, including the sodium hypochlorite project, hydrogenation atomization and installation, and the construction of a new production block.
- Conducts Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) prior to the initiation of new product operations to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Personally monitor critical reactions and oversee the handling of hazardous materials, ensuring safe and controlled operations.
- Conduct accident investigations, including fact-finding, root cause analysis, and implementation of recommendations for near misses and incident reports.
- Support EHS training needs by conducting regular PEP talks, toolbox talks, and classroom training for employees and contractors.
- Monitor workplace conditions and issue work permits to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct mock drills, fire drills, and safety committee meetings; prepare and submit comprehensive reports to the Factory Department.
- Prepare EHS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operational Control Procedures (OCPs) to enhance the safety culture across the site.
- Review batch production records and P&IDs from an EHS perspective to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Conducted internal audits to ensure adherence to EHS guidelines and standards.
- Prepare EHS bulletins to enhance employee awareness and understanding of safety practices.
