Title: Amperometric Biosensors as an Analytical Tool in Food, Dairy and Fermentation Industries

2020, Sivashankar, Shilpa, S Kumar, Navaneeth, R, Kiran, Mazumder, Nilakshi

  • Biosensors are analytical devices that sense the presence of a biological component in the vicinity and generate signals that can be easily detected using a physicochemical detector.
  • With the advent of biosensors, conventional methodologies such as the detection of contaminants in pharmaceutical industries and the diagnosis of diseases via biomarkers have been accelerated to a great extent.

Projects

Title: Development of Hemostatic PVA-Starch Foam and Hydrogel For Topical Wound Treatment [09/19/22 - 05/06/23]

  • A biocompatible and Hemostatic foam and hydrogel were synthesized using Poly Vinyl Alcohol (PVA) and starch.
  • Antibiotics were added to boost their antimicrobial capabilities.
  • Basic hydrogel characterization revealed that moisture was slowly absorbed and released, which is beneficial for the gradual release of antimicrobials like antibiotics and nanoparticles.
  • The foam and hydrogel's swelling ratio and kinetics were examined.
  • After maximum absorption, the weight of the hydrogel increased by eight times and that of the foam by about four times.
