SFMC Riyadh Structure Validation (29th Jan 2020 to current)

Security Forces Medical Centre Riyadh (SFMCR) rises to a maximum of 13 storeys, and is situated in Riyadh. SFMCR is an identical twin of SFMC Jeddah. The only difference is in the less rigorous requirement in seismic design.

• Involved in the design validation of horizontal elements for podium levels and prepared the design validation reports for the same.
• Used different softwares such as Prokon, ETABS, SAFE, S-Concrete, in-house tool such as RCM ACI Builder, etc. as per client’s requirement.
• Used Design Strip method and Finite Element method to check the adequacy of slabs based on reinforcement in the design drawings.
• Involved in review of slab shop drawings.
• Carried out Moment Redistribution calculations for failed beams and slabs and for failed beams considering monolithic action between beam and slab in accordance with ACI code.
• Prepared calculation reports for checking the effect of design of slabs due to introduction of new openings.
• Involved in preparing interim reports and stamping of drawings.
• Involved occasionally in checking RC beams in tower levels using software RAM Concept based on reinforcement provided in shop drawings.

KAFD 2 Structures Task (18th May 2020 to 2nd July 2020)

Client: Rayadah Investment Company

KAFD refers to King Abdullah Financial District located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It spans a surface area of 1.6 million square meters consisting of 34 towers.

• Involved in detailed design checks for the landing beam and nearby columns supporting skywalk bridge connecting the two towers.
• Calculated dead and live loads coming from the building and applying these loads along with bridge reaction and friction forces in ETABS 2D and 3D models to verify the design of beam supporting skywalk bridge.
• Carried out detailed review of ETABS and SAFE models based on the available shop drawings and as-built drawings, and prepared F3 review document as per WSP markup guidelines.

SFMC Jeddah (6nd February 2020 to 4th March 2020)

External End Client: The Ministry of Interior (MOI) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)

Internal Client: Manens-Tifs

Security Forces Medical Centre Jeddah (SFMCJ) rises to a maximum of 13 storeys, and is situated in Jeddah, KSA. It covers a total surface area of 2.5 million square meters. The design criteria is similar to that used in SFMC Riyadh development with the difference mainly in seismic design requirements which requires a special moment frame structure and more onerous ground conditions.

• Carried out the review of shop drawings for beam reinforcement details based on the given beam schedule.
• Carried out the review of ETABS model based on General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
• Validated the design for continuous beams using PROKON software as per the client's requirement to take into account the pattern loading.
