Electrical power distribution design inside ITER TOKAMAK Complex

During my tenure at ITER, I was involved in a wide range of key activities and responsibilities, contributing significantly to the Electrical Power Distribution design within the ITER TOKAMAK Complex in France. Here is a breakdown of my major contributions and achievements:

  • Main Design Developer and Coordinator: I was primarily responsible for serving as Main Design Developer and Coordinator for MV/LV Load centers, specifically LC01, LC02, LC07, and LC08. These load centers were critical for supplying low voltage power to TOKAMAK Complex.
  • Electrical Load List Preparation: Contributed significantly to the preparation of Electrical Load list, a crucial step in understanding and managing power requirements.
  • Equipment Sizing: Conducted sizing calculations for various electrical equipment, including MV/LV Transformers, UPSes, Diesel Generators, Main distribution boards, Sub-distribution boards, Sub-distribution panels, LV Cables, and LV Bus bars. This involved complex engineering calculations.
  • Software Utilization: Used Caneco-BT Software to perform cable, bus bar, and breaker sizing, ensuring compliance with NFC 15-100 regulations. Additionally, I conducted discrimination studies for breakers and configured protection settings (LSI) using this software.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepared Typical Schematic drawings for LV MDBs (Main Distribution Boards) and SDBs (Sub-Distribution Boards) and created Technical Specifications and Datasheets for various equipment such as MV/LV transformers, MDBs, LV non-segregated phase bus bars, LV Reactive power compensation systems, 48V DC Systems, SDBs, and SDPs.
  • Process Improvement: Provided valuable input to the Section Leader, identifying areas for process and procedural improvements. This input likely helped streamline project operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Workflow Design: Played pivotal role in designing the workflow for the Electrical Power distribution design within ITER, ensuring a structured and organized approach to the project.
  • Customized Catalogue Development: Developed a customized Schneider catalogue that included more than 250 Schneider components (ACB's, MCCB's, MCB's, MPCB's, RCD's) tailored specifically for ITER Project.
