Praveen Kumar

I am Dr. Praveen and I prefer to be called PK. I currently serve as the Head of Clinical Sciences at Nference. I aim to make a significant impact on the patient population. How do I define impact? Impactful efforts are those with a pronounced effect on a large number of patients, rather than just a few. These are contributions that will endure even after my passing. Examples of impact? The drug discovery of a first-in-class or a "me-too" drug that offers a sizeable advantage. A medical device that addresses an unmet medical need. A software solution that reaches millions of physicians and patients. A well-conducted clinical trial that alters the current practices in a medical domain.

What efforts have I undertaken thus far to create impact? I completed my MBBS with an overall aggregate of 67%. I majored in Pharmacology and pursued a superspecialty in Clinical Pharmacology from PGIMER, Chandigarh, one of India's premier institutes. I was honored with the Gold Medal (V.K. Bhargava Medal) in my major. I have collaborated with multiple research teams in various capacities, both as a lead and co-author, striving to grasp the extensive domain of medicine. My number of citations exceeds 1490, with an i10-index of around 42, as of December 2023. I have imparted knowledge on drug discovery, statistics, pharmacology, and research methodology through numerous workshops to medical and allied science graduates. I have leveraged the power of engineering by working at a med-tech company, Nference, and have self-trained in multiple programming languages, including R, Python, SQL, and Unix. I am a firm believer in engineering's ability to expedite processes and enhance my chances of making a meaningful impact. What do I lack? I am steadily advancing toward my goal; however, I aim to further refine my trajectory. I seek to find the right mentor and aspire to cut through the noise of life. I need to further hone my clinical skills and acquire sufficient licenses to practice medicine. I am looking for the ideal research institution that aligns with my aspirations and supports my dedication to realizing my dreams.
