Project: Agile Transformation for a CIB Bank in Egypt

Role: Agile Consultant

Description: Led an Agile Transformation consultancy engagement for a CIB Bank in Egypt, enabling the bank to kickstart its Agile transformation from scratch. This was the first bank in Egypt seeking an Agile transformation, making it a unique challenge given the newness of Agile practices in the region. Key activities included:

Phase 1:

• Conducted initial discussions and an in-state probe
• Proposed an initial Target Operating Model (TOM) and Roadmap
• Created a detailed Agile Maturity Assessment customized for the client's existing state
• Conducted Agile Maturity Assessments across different Business Units and presented a detailed report to each Business Head, as well as an overall engagement report

Phase 2:

• Developed a Target Operating Model based on inputs from the Maturity Assessment Report, needs, and banking compliance requirements
• Created a Roadmap for implementing the Target Operating Model using a customized Essential SAFe approach
• Designed a training plan for pilot teams and specialized roles
• Prepared for the first PI (Program Increment) planning artifacts and meetings
• Planned for the creation of Agile induction batches
• Collaborated with other Agile coaches to create training materials
• Conducted feature storming discussions with Product Owners and Product Managers using a Product Canvas
• Created a PI vision and feature list
• Ensured Architecture and Technical readiness for teams

Phase 3:

• Implemented the Target Operating Model with a pilot project
• Kicked off PI meetings with relevant activities for pilot teams
• Launched Scrum and Kanban implementation for pilot teams
• Provided handholding support for Scrum Masters, Kanban leads, and Product Owners during Scrum and Kanban events
• Delivered training such as Scrum/Kanban basics, advanced Scrum mastery, and Jira basics
• Mentored and coached Scrum/Kanban teams during their first PI planning
• Created an Agile Core Committee (LACE) to drive Agile adoption and continuation
• Developed a roadmap for Agile Transformation
• Completed the first PI and implemented PI planning 2 for a new set of teams along with the pilot
• Utilized Jira and relevant metrics for the team and ACC (Agile Core Committee) members.

Managing delivery aspect of distributed Scrum team of 11.

• Coaching, mentoring team with respect to Scrum practices, values and principle.
• Facilitating Scrum events
• Coaching Product Owner to establish strong product roadmap and practices in alignment with scrum
• Closely worked with Product Owner with regard to team OKR and tie it with Org level OKRs
• Closely working from Product side for all stakeholder management
• Effective use of metrics for data driven value delivery , retrospective and corrective action item if needed

Agile Coach for Organizational Transformation:

• Been part of Organizational level Agile transformation of Agile coaches
• Taking training sessions for 2 batches of Scrum team (approx 40 members) on Agile and Scrum basics
• Session and negotiations with higher management regarding Agile adoption
• Fun and interactive session for team induction and all Scrum team related artifacts creations like Team Agreement, Team Name, Initial DoD and DoR.
• Session to create Product level artifacts along with POs like Product Vision, Draft Product Roadmap, Initial Product backlog during Team Launch

Acting as Coach for other SM.

• Coached , mentored and successfully induced two new Scrum Master in Organization
• Along with other Agile coaches contributed in Domain level scaling using Scrum@Scale .
• Creating community of practices with Scrum Master and Product owner community during sustain phase

Technical coach for team:

• Acting as coach and mentor for best practices in CI/CD for team
• Clean code and test driven development practices for developer

• Initiated Team level Scrum from scratch for two teams with strength of 10 each.
