  • This is more of an Independent Contributor role wherein I have been entrusted to handle all Visa applications pertaining to Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK.
  • This role involves direct interaction with clients to know their travel plans and request for relevant documents as per their profession and purpose of travel.

As a Visa Officer, my role is to:

- Assess an application based on the criteria of Income, Employment and Savings and do a diligent check of the documents provided

- Scrutinize critical information in order to make lawful decisions keeping in mind the legislation and guidelines as mandated by the Australian Government on Migration

- Verify the authenticity of documents and claims through online checks, calls, third party references etc.

I was once again hired on an emergency basis for 2 months during which my main tasks involved:

- Processing online applications and entering them into the system

- Assisting in InScan/OutScan of files received from/sent out to VFS Global respectively.

- Lastly, in order to help in proper storage of applications, I was involved in scanning and uploading of necessary documents from the Applicant’s file and discarding unwanted paper as per the guidelines of the Consulate.

  • Was involved in handling applications for entry into Canada either for Study, Work, Tourism or becoming a Permanent Resident.
  • Being in the Cost Recovery Team, had allocated fees to the applicant’s files online, initiating refunds wherever applicable, tracking the status of receipts towards the payments made and generating and sending out refusal letters to applicants whose files have been refused.
  • While being a part of the Print Room Operations, I was assigned the role of printing and pasting of Visas for all approved cases (including Emergency due to illness, death etc), reconciling the numbers on a daily basis, filing of applications, processing online applications and entering them into the system etc.
  • I had also worked in the Case Management team wherein, I handled additional documents from applicants containing withdrawal or new passport requests, attaching medical or further educational documents to the respective files as requested by the Officers, segregation and shelving of files as per category (For example, Students, Workers, Visitors, Permanent Residents Travel Documents etc) and assisting in the InScan/OutScan of files received from/sent out to VFS Global respectively.
  • Lastly, I had undertaken pre-assessment of files for a brief period, in order to help reduce the workload of other teams.
  • Supported compliance efforts by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and policies.

  • Had to review applications for new credit cards and also requests for a credit limit increase and assess each file based on the criteria laid down by the company.
  • As an officer, we had to use our discretion in most of the cases to override the system's decision by using the guidelines within which we are expected to take action.
  • It was also necessary to check and verify the documents pertaining to the financial position of a Customer apart from the credit scores in order to arrive at an informed decision.
  • We were also provided inputs on concepts covering Anti-Money Laundering, Customer Due Diligence and Know Your Customer guidelines pertaining to Australian markets.
