1. Scale up of new products developed by R&D in Laboratory scale to the commercial scale through Kilogram Laboratories and Pilot Plant to deliver robust and safe chemical process for scale-up I.e technology transfer to commercial manufacturing plant.
2.Selection of suitable equipment’s for new products. Provide required equipment specifications like CAPACITY, MOC, RPM, AGITATOR, and Requirement of utilities and safety recommendations for handling of Raw material. Discuss with R & D and Production and finalize it.
3.Thorough understanding & knowledge about unit operations such as agitation & mixing of liquids, absorption, adsorption, distillation, liquid-liquid extractions, crystallization, filtration, drying etc.
4. Calculation of RM norms for each product and monthly Re-Conciliations for Raw material.
5. Calculation for Time cycles, trouble shootings, Capacity enhancement, Yield improvement etc. Engineering calculations like Power per unit volume, tip speed and Corrosion rate calculations, Rate of Distillation in a Batch Reactor, Theoretical batch cycle time for unit operation, Vapour pressure calculations, utility load and Heat load calculation etc.
6. Observe the lab demo batches in R & D and identify Critical process parameters of the process. Technology transfer activities R&D Trials, kilo lab trial, Scale up, stabilization and establish proper scale up of the process.
7. To help production department for take over the process for the successful commercialization. Commissioning the new product at site by Execution of Trial and Validation batches at plant scale.
8.Preparation of Trial and Validation batch manufacturing report.
9. Detailed evaluation of the process with respect to unit operations and CPPs.
10.Effectively leading product transfer at site and Act as a tool between Production, QC, QA with R & D to absorb the technology from Lab to Plant.
11. Co-ordinate for capex preparation, facility modifications, raw material planning and indent and necessary documentation for batch start up. 12. Preparing Dos & don’ts for the process and give it to Production for regular batches. Review the SOP, Log sheet and Quality Plan prepared by 13. Production and QA. Prepare the BFD, checklist for Documents submitted &To assist QA in preparing Validation protocol.
14. Impart training to Shift in charges, Chemists & subordinates about the process criticality and how to keep them in control especially in case of exothermic reactions. Operations of plant for various reactions, unit operations, separation systems and utilities.
15. Organizing the technology transfer meeting for the API’s and Intermediate products.
16. Preparation of Request for Proposal (RFP) with technical input sheet, batch planning sheet, Gantt chart. Involving in discussion with scientist and R&D chemists to ensure the process is effectively scale up (In view of Process safety & Handling of raw material) from lab to pilot and pilot to commercial.
17. Conducting the HAZOP and Risk analysis in presence of safety, Process R&D , Analytical team & Production by brain storming about risk of handling & behavior of raw material and reaction behavior and process criticality for Smooth execution of batches in pilot/commercial level.
1. Literature search and thorough understanding of MSDS and process safety.
2. Understanding the process safety data as per the tech pack for reactive hazards, thermal hazards and powder safety studies.
3. Carrying out data interpretation from ARC, RC1e, DSC thermal analysis study reports.
4. Understanding of the reaction chemistry by interacting with Process R&D team.
5. Responsible for planning, conducting and recommending implementation of HAZOP, PSSR, MOC and 100% compliance at Strategic business partner plants.
6. Ensuring Pre start up safety report checklist before execution of process.
7. Calculating utility and heat load, vent sizing based on the process safety data.
8. Ensuring vent sizing as per gas evaluation for desired reactions recommend for any modification as per the Process.
9. Involving in discussion with scientist and R&D chemists to ensure the process is effectively scale up (In view of Process safety & Handling of raw material) from lab to pilot and pilot to commercial.
10. Responsible for kilo lab activity and supervise the process operation. Ensure the modification requirements as per the process.
