UNIWHEELS: A Cycle Rental System for University Students

I designed and developed UNIWHEELS, an innovative cycle rental platform tailored specifically for university students. The project focuses on offering affordable, eco-friendly transportation options within campus grounds. The system features a user-friendly website that allows students to seamlessly rent and return bicycles with just a few clicks.

The back-end of the system is designed to manage critical aspects such as:

• Cycle Rentals: Managing the availability of cycles, rental durations, and assigning cycles to students.
• Automated Billing: A system that calculates the rental cost based on usage duration, generating bills automatically upon cycle return.
• Return Management: Tracking when cycles are due for return and logging the exact return time.
• Inventory Tracking: Keeping a real-time record of the total number of cycles available for rent.
• Late Return Fines: Implementing an automated fine system for late submissions to ensure timely returns.

This project was built using Java for backend logic, JavaScript for frontend interaction, and PHPMyAdmin with MySQL for database management. Together, these technologies ensure a smooth and efficient user experience, both for students renting cycles and for administrators managing the system.
