Shubhendu Katiyar

Robotics and Automation graduate currently pursuing a Master of Public Policy at the Ashank Desai Centre for Policy Studies (ADCPS), IIT Bombay. My background is rooted in robotics, AI, and applied technology, with hands-on experience developing intelligent systems and taking projects from early concepts to functional prototypes.

My shift towards public policy grew from an interest in the wider questions surrounding technology: how it is governed, who benefits from it, and how it shapes society. I am particularly interested in AI and technology policy, education, and the social impact of emerging technologies, and hope to bring my technical background into work at the intersection of technology and public policy.

• Finalist - RoboFest 3.0 (Underwater Robot) - Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat, Jul 2023, awarded a grant of INR 50,000 to develop the proposed underwater robot
• Deep Tech Immersion Program Fellow - IHFC (TIH of IIT Delhi), Jan 2024, shortlisted and invited for a month-long immersion program at IIT Delhi (Sonipat) after competing in DD Robocon '23, and gained entrepreneurship/startup experience in robotics and cobotics, developing novel product designs
• Top 8 DD Robocon 23 - Team Member (PU Robocon) Design and Documentation Dept - Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Jun 2023 Part of Team PU Robocon (placed among the top 8 teams nationally) Responsible for design, documentation, and material acquisition
• 2nd runner-up - Escalade 12.0 IIT Guwahati - (Aug 2023): made a stair-climbing robot equipped with a ball-shooter mechanism for the competition task
• Winner - RoboQuest (IIT Gandhinagar) - Amalthea, IIT Gandhinagar, Jan 2023, made a 3-DOF SCARA-based PRR bot with image recognition and CV capabilities
• Smart India Hackathon 2023 - Grand Finalist - All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Dec 2023 problem statement organization - Autodesk PS - students are supposed to use Fusion 360 software to generate NC code with machine details and tool library for any industrial component. Students should possess technical skills in areas such as CAD/CAM software, G-code programming, toolpath optimization, and machining fundamentals. Additionally, their project ideas should demonstrate a viable solution to a real-world problem, ensuring feasibility and practicality in implementation
