My six years of focused experience in oncosurgery have allowed me to develop the technical skills, clinical knowledge, and patient-centered approach needed to contribute meaningfully in this challenging field.
Professional Experience and Training
After completing my general surgery training, I pursued a comprehensive three-year specialty training in Surgical Oncology at the Regional Cancer Center, Trivandrum, Kerala—the largest state-run cancer hospital in the region. The center performs an average of 12 major surgical operations daily across five operating theaters, with specialized units in Upper and Lower Gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary, Breast, Thoracic, Gynecological, Urologic, Bone and Soft Tissue, and Head and Neck malignancies. This rigorous training provided me with extensive exposure to complex oncologic cases and advanced surgical techniques.
Following my training, I served as a Senior Resident for an additional year in the same centre, further honing my skills in managing high-volume, high-complexity surgical oncology cases.
I am deeply committed to improving outcomes and quality of life for cancer patients, and I feel privileged to work alongside dedicated colleagues in multidisciplinary oncology teams. I strive to learn, grow, and make a positive impact in the lives of those I serve.
Currently, I am a dedicated Consultant Surgical Oncologist with expertise in managing a broad spectrum of malignancies, including gastric, colorectal, pancreatic-biliary, breast, gynecological, head and neck, extremity sarcomas, and skin cancers. My role involves performing advanced oncologic surgeries, mentoring medical students and 5 academic residents per year in a national medical council recongnisedMCh Surgical oncology course. I am also involved in conducting clinical research, and presenting at national and international conferences. I actively contribute to academic discussions and remain committed to evidence-based practices in surgical oncology.
During my General Surgery Residency, I trained at a high-volume tertiary care referral center in Kolkata, India, serving a diverse metropolitan population. This experience provided me with extensive exposure to a wide range of general surgical cases, enhancing my clinical and procedural skills. As part of my training, I completed rotations in the Trauma Care Unit, Surgical ICU, and Critical Care Units, where I gained hands-on experience in managing acute surgical emergencies, critically ill patients, and complex perioperative care. This foundational training has been instrumental in shaping my surgical expertise and patient management capabilities.
Attended clinical rotations in various departments in a Tertiary care Hospital as a part of MBBS degree course.
