Role 1: Global Storage & SAN Domain Lead (Pan-Africa)
- Storage Delivery & Design: Solely responsible for creating High-Level (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD) and executing end-to-end configuration of Huawei Storage across 14 Airtel Africa countries. Tasks include license management, firmware upgrades, Storage Pool/LUN creation, and configuring NAS (NFS) and SAN (iSCSI) protocols.
- SAN Fabric Management: Lead administrator for Lenovo/Brocade SAN Switches globally. manage Domain IDs, firmware upgrades via SFTP, and execute Zoning and Alias configuration to map hosts to storage.
Role 2: Infrastructure Deployment & Basic Configuration (Country-Specific Rotation)
- Lenovo Server Deployment: Manage physical deployment and basic configuration for Lenovo Hypervisors. Perform IBMC and ESXi firmware upgrades, configure Management IPs, and integrate nodes into Lenovo XClarity monitoring tool and vCenter before handing over to the server domain lead.
- Network & Backup Integration:
- Arista Network Switches: Perform basic port configuration and validation using LLDP to verify server-to-switch connectivity.
- Veritas Backup Appliances (3360 & 5260): Configure IPMI/Management IPs and facilitate handover to backup engineers for final configuration.
- Field Engineering Management: Direct remote Field Engineers (FE) on rack mounting, cabling, and powering on of all hardware (Servers, Storage, SAN/Arista Switches, Veritas devices) based on validated cabling matrices.
