Project: Screening for latent and active TB and impaired Mtb specific immune response among type-2 diabetic subjects in Chennai based clinic population

• Recruited patients (n=800) based on inclusion/exclusion criteria
• Investigated the prevalence of latent TB in subjects with various levels of glucose intolerance using interferon gamma release assay
• Studied altered Mtb specific immune response among type-2 diabetic subjects by assessing cytokine/chemokine levels in serum, and whole blood culture

Project: Diabetes induced dysfunction in subcutaneous adipocytes (SAT) and its impact on human dermal fibroblasts (HDFa)

• Investigated diabetes induced SAT dysfunction in healthy SAT by subjecting them to diabetic microenvironment (AGE-BSA) and analyzing expression levels of pro-inflammatory markers
• Studied the impact of dysfunctional SAT on HDFa cells by growing them together in a co-culture system
• Investigated the effect of U.V or U.V+AGE-BSA on HDFa cells by determining expression levels of senescence markers
