As DGM O&M, responsible for overseeing and managing the operations and maintenance of TATA made Electric buses, 12M length (400 Nos, 100 more to be operational by May 2025) running under DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation) project. Also managing a team size of approx. 1400 manpower including Depot Managers, Works managers, Asst Managers & Other Technical & Operational Staff. with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
My KRA’s and role is to ensure that buses are operational, well-maintained, and aligned with organizational and regulatory standards. Aligning depot O & M teams for achieving monthly/quarterly KPI targets of Reliability, Availability, Punctuality, Frequency, Safety of Operations & Trip Speed. Attaining Operational Excellence and achieving daily & monthly Operational efficiency Targets, improving revenue and minimising Daily/Monthly & KPI penalties by aligning the depot teams with the performance targets & imparting trainings and educating the teams regularly about the targets and ways to achieve them effectively and efficiently. Ensuring timely Client billing & compliance every month.
Below are the key responsibilities:
1. Operational / Fleet Management Oversight:
Fleet Management: Oversee the daily operation of the electric bus fleet across all the depots to ensure timely Out/IN shedding of fleet, service and compliance with route schedules, routes optimization
Operational Efficiency: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Daily Operational efficiency, fleet availability, service reliability, energy efficiency, and downtime reduction.
Regional Coordination: Liaise with DTC & TML authorities across the depots, municipalities, and other govt. agencies to ensure smooth operations within the region. Addressing operational issues to higher authorities of DTC & TML for improving service delivery.
2. Maintenance Management:
Preventive Maintenance: Aligning and monitoring the performance of the service teams across all the depots on preventive maintenance schedules adherences for the fleet to minimize breakdowns and extend vehicle life.
Maintenance Supervision: Ensuring target driven tasks for the teams responsible for repairs and maintenance, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.
Spare Parts Management: Taking daily reports/Coordinating with TML teams for the procurement and inventory management of spare parts and equipment necessary for repairs.
3. Team Management:
Leadership & Supervision: Coordinating and Manging Depot teams, including drivers, technicians, and administrative staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to company policies.
Training & Development: Facilitate training programs for drivers and maintenance staff on EV technology, safety procedures, and operational standards.
Workforce Planning: Ensure that sufficient personnel are available for operational shifts and emergency repairs.
4.Safety&Compliance:
Safety Standards: Ensure all safety protocols are followed during bus operations and maintenance activities, including electrical safety for high-voltage systems.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations and environmental standards.
Risk Management: Identify risks and develop contingency plans to ensure service continuity in case of incidents or operational issues.
5.Budgeting & Reporting:
Cost Control: Monitor operational and maintenance budgets, ensuring cost efficiency in fleet management, repairs, and maintenance activities across all the depots.
Reporting: Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, maintenance status, and operational issues, providing insights for higher management. Organising monthly depot performance review meetings to implant a culture of competition and performance excellence and collective learnings.
Financial Management: Coordinating and Managing procurement, contracts, and financial performance related to O&M across all the depots.
6.Technology & Data Management:
EV Technology Understanding: Keep abreast of how are you, developments in electric vehicle (EV) technology and recommend upgrades to equipment or processes.
Data Analytics: Utilize data from telematics systems to monitor bus performance, optimize energy consumption, and improve overall efficiency.
Software Tools: Manage the use of fleet management and maintenance software to track performance, maintenance schedules, and energy usage etc.
7. Customer & Stakeholder Relations:
Customer Service: Address customer and public inquiries or complaints regarding bus service, providing timely resolutions.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with external stakeholders such as DTC authorities, Tata Motors Ltd personnels, charging infrastructure providers like Tat Power Ltd, and other Local govt bodies and vendors.
8.Charging Infrastructure Management:
Infrastructure Planning: Oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of electric charging stations to ensure adequate coverage and functionality.
Energy Management: Work closely with energy providers to manage charging schedules and optimize energy consumption for cost-effectiveness.
9. Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Operational Improvements: Identify opportunities for operational improvements, including innovations in bus technology, route optimization, and energy usage.
Sustainability Initiatives: Develop strategies to increase the environmental sustainability of operations, focusing on reducing the carbon footprint and increasing efficiency.
10. Client Billing & Compliance: Oversee B2B contracts, ensure accurate & timely invoicing and maintain billing record, joint sessions with TML Depot Managers on monthly deduction and penalties settlements, Liaise with TML & government transport bodies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

I joined RCOM as an O&M Planning Engineer and rose to the position of Infra Manager in the span of five years. I managed the key positions of Installation and Commissioning Manager, Transmission Manager, Project and Maintenance Manager during my tenure.

As an O&M Planning Engineer, I am responsible for the control and management of preventive, predictive, and breakdown orders raised in the SAP PM module.
