Founder Secretary Women Ophthalmologists Worldwide (WOW) This society involved executive members from 29 countries and has already started forming countrywise chapters like Nepal Chapter & sri lanka Chapter. It has been instrument in formation of women's forum at South Africa and is in the process of forming more country chapters. Aim is to build networks and collaboration amongst women ophthalmologists from across the globe. The WOW group held its 1st Annual Conference in India in 2022 under the leadership of Dr Mohita Sharma and was attended by approx 500 delegates from all over the world.
Founder Secretary of Women Ophthalmologists Society Of India, a national society in India for women ophthalmologists, which was formed in 2015. This society was her brainchild. This society, within a short span of 8 years, has approx 2500 members and 22 state chapters and carries out activities for the professional upgradation of women ophthalmologists at central and state level by giving women ophthalmologists opportunities. At each state level there are 5 executive members and 2 men advisors who work for the professional upgradation of women ophthalmologists.Several women ophthalmologists have benefitted from the opportunities provided. The society carries out 1 national conference and approximately 25 activities' in a year. It runs several programs round the year which include- Mentor mentee program, Women's health program, Surgical skill upgradation program, Practice managements programs, Post graduate programs, Exchange training and short term fellowship programs, Crisis management programs, Workplace culture programs.The Concept of " Mentor Mentee " and "Giving" to others is what she has propagated as the main motto of the society. Hence all programs and projects of the society work on the mentor mentee concept.
This society formed “Women in Research” wing (WINR)- for which she is the core founding member and Tirupati Eye Centre & Research Institute is the office. The research group works with a motto of " Research for all" whether it is a solo practitioner or an institution. This research group is a conglomeration of approx. 2500 women ophthalmologists who are carrying out multicentric research as clinicians from all over the country to change the scientific temper of the country. This group has also formed its own independent ethics committee and has started 2 arms-clinical arm and molecular arm. Studies in this group are already underway under the guidance of mentors and expert groups. RED Project or rare eye diseases Project was started under the WINR Wing by Dr Mohita Sharma, This project has created national registries of 10 diseases which have started data capture and genetic counselling and analysis on a national basis.
This is the only society which apart from clinical upgradation, strongly considers research as its responsibility and encourages members to get involved in research along with their clinical work. Dr Mohita Sharma herself started as a solo practitioner to buliding up a superspeciality research institute and believes in this transformation for all her women collegues.
Lead of "rare Eye Diseases" group- This is the only group on rare eye diseases which is crearing national registries of rare eye diseases. This group currently invoves approx 250 investigators from India.

She was also an expert advisor in Queen Jubilee project on diabetic retinopathy and ROP for giving recommendations to government if India on treatment of diabetic retinopathy and ROP
She was a part of the Advocacy committee of All India Ophthalmological Society for recommendations to the government of India for treatment of diabetic retinopathy.

She is renowned phacorefractivve surgeon from India She hs carried out more than 25000 refractive procedures and is the pioneer for refractive surgery Presbylasik supracor for which she was the 1st in India to carry out the procedure and has the largest series of supracor from India, Sha was awarded the Gold Medal by Indian Society for cornea and refractive surgery for this She is a well known cataract surgeon too and is a part of national clinical trials to evaluate intraocular lenses
