Leadership role to help company achieve sustainable development through technological innovation
Growing up having limited resources, lived a minimalist lifestyle during my 24 years of professional journey. Born & bred in Mumbai, India graduated in business studies and simultaneously finished diploma in technology in 2000. Started technology career in “Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)” delivering solutions for optimal resource utilisation. Role involved business analysis, process improvement, project management and training. In 2006, worked for the United Nations development program in Kenya to up-skill under-privileged Kenyan women with ERP skills.
As a technology consultant, traveled to developing countries to provide solutions that helped reduce wastage in manufacturing industry. Key highlights: 1). linear & batch production planning, 2). Scrap utilisation in aluminum industry, 3). Utilising unsold paint to create fresh batches with un-compromised quality. In 2009, completed Masters in Business Administration with own savings.
In 2010, joined the infrastructure asset management industry and delivered various projects, including national initiative NETC FASTag, in the role of Chief Information Officer and Founding Director of the infra company's technology subsidiary. The company I worked with, partnered with the Government of India to build and maintain National Highways. During this phase, inclination towards sustainable development kept growing and as a result, contributed in process improvement solutions using technology: 1). To reduce fuel wasted by idling in traffic queues, 2). Improve the quality of roads 3). Reduce accidents.
Was first introduced to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) in 2015 when collaboration/work started with international fund managers investing in India’s renewable energy, highway assets and logistics industry. Hereon, invested time and effort to self-learn about sustainability initiatives, especially in the mobility sector: 1). Electric vehicles (EV) charging on highways, 2). Driving public transport usage, 3). Development in green fuels and 4). to explore GNSS, ANPR technology for road-pricing to eliminate toll plazas in India. Recently, my views on India’s net zero goals were covered by UK’s leading magazine - "Automotive World: Can India's EV market help it reach net zero by 2070?"
Since 2010, have founded three companies. Presently, as founding Director of Sthaar Consulting in India, aim to deliver technology initiatives focused on Sustainable Development Goals. As a smart mobility subject matter expert and in collaboration with European consultants, contributed to technology driven policy recommendation assignment for not-for-profit organisation, Council of Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW): "Recovering fuel tax revenue loss from EV transition in India to reduce negative impact on EV uptake."
Continual learning is a key highlight of career. From Jan 2023 started Master of Science - Sustainable Development at the University of Sussex, United Kingdom, to combine industry experience with knowledge acquired to achieve sustainable development goals through technological innovation.
