Somdutta Mitra comes from the distinguished 'Durgachoron Mitra' zamindar lineage, known for its rich cultural legacy and the significant societal contributions made by its members over the years. Her father, Sri. Shyamal Kumar Mitra is Marine Surveyor of repute with his own firm in Kolkata while her mother, Smt. Putul Mitra holds a postgraduate degree in Ancient History and dedicates herself to homemaking. Somdutta's brother, Dr. Soham Mitra practices as a pediatrician with the NHS in the UK and his spouse, Smt. Enakshmi Halder is a school teacher and academician based in Sheffield, UK. Somdutta's family has a long-standing association with prestigious clubs in Kolkata like Outram Club, Indian Life Saving Society(ILSS), Calcutta Rowing Club(CRC) with her father having served as a committee member, Secretary, and Past President of the Outram Club in Kolkata.
