Accomplishments

  • Safety Champion Award – Awarded with Safety Champion Award and duly appreciated by Sh Arun Kumar Singh, CMD & CEO, Sh Pankaj Kumar, Director-Production, Sh Om Prakash Singh, Director-T&FS during their visit to ONGC Rajahmundry Asset.
  • Well-MDDM / Rig-HH-150-I - Well MDDM was prepared for Monobore HF campaign. During Pre-HF(Hydro Fracturing) operations, a Schlumberger logging tool got stuck and snapped with 2550m of slickline dropping inside the wellbore. Conceptualized and executed the successful fishing operation of complete slickline along with the logging tool by designing & fabricating job specific fish catching tools using in-house resources, while pivoting to 10 years of rich fishing experience. The well was ultimately cleared up to target depth & later HF job was carried out successfully. Well produced HC Gas @54000m3/day.
  • Well-MDP#54 / Rig-HH-150-I - Carried out critical fishing operation of drill string which got stuck during cementation plug job. The challenge - fishing of 3.5” RHDP having tool joint OD-5” in a 6” ID Cased-hole - is considered one of the toughest jobs as in aforementioned case most of the external catching tools are ruled out. In spite of major complications due to high well inclination & heavy back torque involved in fishing operations, executed entire fishing operation and recovered 144 nos of 3.5” RH Drill pipes. The pipes recovered were in perfect condition, thus saving full value of the ONGC assets.
  • Well-MDP#62 / Rig-JOHN-23 - Workover rig John-23 was deployed to carry out re-activation of the temporary abandoned Well-MDP#62. A total of 450m of cement plug was to be drilled with 1.55sg water-based mud. As DIC, I instituted on-site modifications with due approvals to handle mud. I also prepared action plans for multiple contingencies. During Operations, I did thorough observations of drilling parameters and through constructive analysis, took independent decision to stop drilling and initiate pull-out of the compromised drill string thus averting instances of drill string failure due to mud-cut, thrice during the operations. The action helped in avoiding major loss of operational days due to unplanned fishing job. Successfully carried out operations as per approved WorkOver Plan. Well flowed with 5mm bean Qg-38900m3/day.
  • Well-KW#40_Z / Rig-SRM-150-I - Well was completed with 02 hydraulic packers in last workover job. WO Rig HH-100T was deployed for revival of its production but even after trying with full capacity of the rig, hydraulic packers could not be released. SRM-150T was deployed with the strategy of planned fishing. Recovered and removed the completion string with the upper packer by strategically combining milling and fishing operations. The bottom packer, as badly stuck in the wellbore, was safely pushed down up to bottom sump in the wellbore and isolated. Finally cleared well upto target depth of 2575m & C/out WOJ as per plan. Well flowed with 5mm bean Qg=40000m3/day, Qo-3.5m3/day (condensate).
  • Well-KWD#04_Z / Rig-HH-150-I - Well was undergoing milling operation to push down permanent packer but even after rigorous efforts with five milling trips, permanent packer could not be pushed down up to target depth. During these rigorous milling efforts mechanical equipment failure & baryte settlement in well created additional complications & challenges to deal with. I discussed with the managerial authorities and convinced them to instead try fishing out the permanent packer. I strengthen my recommendation based on the thorough analysis of the junk collected in junk basket during milling trips. After due approvals, successfully fished out complete assembly of the permanent packer in just 01 trip. With my contribution, I was able to save operational days and the well itself from further complications. Presently the well is in completion phase and is expected to produce 10 Tonnes per day.

Work Responsibilities and contributions

  • Operations Supervision - Posted as Rig Coordinator of SRM-150T WorkOver Rig, wherein I supervise Workover Operations while ensuring safe working environment. I am responsible and accountable to all the operational activities and workforce employed at the rig. I contribute to the Organization and the Nation through sustainable gain in oil and gas production from previously depleted wells.
  • Well Intervention Planning – I am responsible for on-site assessments of well parameters and their respective behaviour, determining the plan of actions and developing ground-level strategies to maximize oil and gas production while addressing multitude of challenges. I have always incorporated a data-driven approach in making informed decisions, identifying areas of improvement and optimizing well interventions.
  • Resource Allocation – I am actively involved in optimization and allocation of scarce resources which includes specific production tools, equipment, logistics, rig workforce, etc., ensuring that these resources are well maintained and utilized to the fullest. I have identified and prepared inventory in the WorkOver Department Yard for easy identification and upkeep of fishing tools and accessories.
  • Safety and Compliance – I have ensured maximum compliance to QHSE standards, OISD standards and DGMS standards at the rig-site through team sensitization by frequent mock drills and trainings. I have also kept the reports and paperwork in excellent condition, imparting confidence in the higher management.
  • Cost Control – Helming ground-level planning, I plan and allocate resources in such a manner so as to minimize rig downtime, undertaking jobs efficiently, and thereby saving precious rig days.
  • Continuous Improvement – Striving towards making rig-site more safe and productive, I have conceptualized digital recordkeeping using Myspace and have been actively involved in making approved digital formats to the day-to-day records.
  • Communication and Coordination – Being a rig coordinator, I enable effective communication between multiple stakeholders which includes Surface Team, Subsurface Team, Well Services Team, Drilling Team, Logging Team, etc., ensuring a well-coordinated work at the rig. I coordinate maintenance schedules, repairs and upgrades of the rig equipment to enhance overall reliability of the rig.
  • On-Job Training – Building upon years of on-field experience, I utilize my spare time in training my junior officers with the tacit as well as explicit knowledge, with an aim to prepare a future team of leaders in ONGC.
  • Team Building – I give special attention to arranging group dinners and outdoor activities with the fellow officers in ONGC. I have successfully utilized soft techniques towards building a good and focused team in WorkOver Services which work towards common goal.
