Description: Extensive training on hospital equipment and research labs. The equipment’s on which the training was conducted were MRI, CT, Ventilators, Patient Monitor, coulter counter machine, laminar air flow etc. Practical exposure on the equipment usage was given by providing opportunity to watch a heart surgery and the application of related equipment in the operation theatre.

Description: Advance training on hospital equipments, research labs. This training gave a practical experience of the theory learnt in classes. Training focused on the functioning of various medical equipments being used in the departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neurochemistry, Neuromicrobiology, Neuroanaesthesia, Radiological equipments etc. During the training, had the opportunity to view a brain surgery in person in the operation theatre and observe the application of all the related equipment.

PREPARATION AND EVALUATION OF BIOCOMPOSITES AS WOUND DRESSING MATERIAL

Collagen was isolated from chrome containing leather waste (CCLW) which is a major solid waste in leather industry. Composite films were prepared using aloe vera and collagen. The films prepared were characterized for their physical and chemical properties like tensile strength, infrared spectra, surface morphology and water absorption studies. Better mechanical and surface morphology were observed for aloe vera -collagen films compared to other film prepared with collagen alone. There is a potential application of these composite films as a wound dressing material. The project was carried out under the supervision of Dr.T.P.Sastry at the CENTRAL LEATHER RESEARCH INSTITUTE(CLRI),CHENNAI. Co-Authored the paper and published under the department of Biomedical Engineering in the “INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR RADIATION AND DOSIMETRY”.
