Summary

My experience of working in Govt sector and with WHO in various competencies at district and state level with considerable field experience has helped me gain an understanding as to how health systems function in different states and different sociocultural settings. I am well organized, detail oriented and able to prioritize effectively to manage conflicting demands in a fast-paced work environment. I would like to add that I am a fast learner and I adapt to the situation as necessary to get the best possible outcomes without compromising integrity and ethical values.

Working in consultation with Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India to evaluate, monitor and implement activities under National Program for Prevention and Control of NCDs, Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program, National Program for Healthcare of the Elderly & National Program for Palliative Care along with State NCD Division, Dept of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of Karnataka.

Achievements

  • Drafted Detailed Project Report for Day Care Chemotherapy centers
  • Drafted SOPs for Breast Cancer Screening
  • Drafted SOPs for NAFLD, COPD & CKD screening
  • Drafted SOPs for a flagship comprehensive door to door screening for NCDs
  • Organized regular review meetings with district officials under the chairmanship of state health authorities, which resulted in achievement of 75/25 strategy objectives and improved program parameters, NP-NCD targets, and ABHA ID generation.

Worked at state and district level to assist State NCD Cell, Dept of Health, Govt of Bihar for building their capacity in implementing Indian Hypertension Control Initiative with the aim of improving control rates for Diabetes and Hypertension at population level. Additionally, support was provided to all aspects of implementation of National Program for prevention and control of Non-Communicable Diseases, National Program for Healthcare of the Elderly and National Program for Palliative Care.

Achievements:

  • Aided the transition from SIMPLE app to National NCD Portal for the State of Bihar
  • Contributed to more than 80% of total DM & HTN registrations in National NCD Portal for Bihar
  • Preparation of PIP for Comprehensive Cancer Services in the State of Bihar in collaboration with TATA Memorial Hospital

Responsibilities

Focal point for WHO country office for India in Madhubani district, Bihar and additionally Supaul and Saharsa, Bihar for:

  • Providing technical guidance and build capacity of government and non government staff to maintain polio free status, immunization parameters and intensification of immunization programs
  • Assist in new vaccine introduction campaigns and its integration into Routine immunization programs
  • Assisting district administration and district health department in management of Covid pandemic and Covid vaccination
  • Maintaining disease surveillance and improving capacity of the government in maintaining effective disease surveillance
  • Case investigation and follow up of AFP, MR and other VPD cases
  • Advocacy with district officials on requisite aspects of health and improving health determinants
  • Technical assistance in MDA program and monitoring and corrective support
  • Microplanning, implementation support, Monitoring and evaluation of all required health programs as prioritized by District health officials
  • Implementation of other health priorities as a part of WHO's Country office and regional office guidance

Achievements

  • Continually ensured adequate surveillance parameters including non polio AFP rate, NMNR rate etc in 3 districts
  • Aided in improving Full Immunization and Complete Immunization coverage of 3 districts
  • Successful completion of JE campaign with optimum coverage
  • Effective management of Covid 19 pandemic in Madhubani district including patient treatment and Covid facility management. Appreciation certificate issued for the same from Commissioner and RAD
  • Implementation support in Covid vaccination campaigns and complete saturation of urban areas for Covid vaccine coverage

As Project Coordinator for Impact of Measles Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign on Population Immunity in India sero survey in Trivandrum, Kerala the responsibilities included:

  • Responsible for the overall project management, co-ordination of all project related activities which include field visits and prompt uploading of data and documentation etc.
  • Training and capacity building of survey teams
  • Liaison with the health authorities, local community for planning and organizing surveys to complete survey, collect data & samples from selected individuals
  • Coordinating the work of 7 member survey team
  • Addressing refusal and concerns of authorities and public

Achievements

  • Completion of the project within 4 months as compared to the allotted time of 6 months
  • Highest rate of sample collection compared to other states where the sero survey was undertaken
  • Co Author in the publication of the same study in "Vaccine" Journal

District NCD Program Coordinator

My role as the District NCD Coordinator for Udupi District, Karnataka involved:

  • Monitoring and evaluation of the NCD and Elderly programs at District level and ensuring timely reporting of progress reports, analysis of routine and special activities of the programs to state and national authorities
  • Conducting training for officials, doctors, paramedical staff and other stakeholders regarding NCDs and NCD programs with revised training material
  • Preparation of Program implementation plan
  • Field visits to healthcare facilities for implementation, review and evaluation of various aspects of NCD programs
  • HR management including Staff appointment, appraisals and grievance support
  • Collaborating with Medical colleges and other private sector organizations for enhancing NCD program impact
  • Budget disbursal and review of expenditure
  • Efficient use of various forms of IEC through different media to improve awareness regarding NCDs

Achievements

  • Ensured availability of Insulin at Govt Health facilities by leveraging existing flexipool budget of NCD programs
  • Consistently achieved top position among all districts in NCD program physical and financial parameters
  • Initiated implementation of National Tobacco Control Program in Udupi
  • Launched screening and management equipment for Diabetic Foot care at all Taluk Hospitals in collaboration with Manipal Hospital
  • IEC awareness material regarding NCDs and NPCDCS programs were introduced in Television media
