NOMURA is a big name in international banking system which originated at Japan
Also it is one of the leading name in securities
NOMURA securities have its canter Japan, Asia excluding Japan, UK and US
There are billions of trading happen daily from Nomura securities
ALGORITHIMICS is the project especially works as backend system for Nomura securities in middle office
It is basically known as ALGO collateral system
Algo does basically receiving of feeds files from various upstream system and load them as flat files in database and also sent information to downstream for settlement
My Role: Application support member and developer
Responsibilities in ALGO:
1) Monitor batches which started at 12:00 AM GMT
2) Monitor if all feeds files are loaded in Database on scheduled time
3) Update users for system is working fine and all process are on time or not
4) If delay in feeds intimate to upstream and business users for the same
5) Check whether feeds sent by upstream and feeds load at database are same in size
6) Run various scripts and sent them to the business users as reports
7) Incident management
8) Develop queries for new requirements for reports and GUI
9) Share knowledge with new team mates
To monitor systems Algo team members are available at any standard time
India team will be in for support session at 7:00 AM IST
Completion of batch monitoring ideal time is 10 AM IST which is before London users start for the day
Also at every time of GMT various business users sending their Adhock queries on which we have to work
Adhock queries include examination of GUI of ALGO, the DB and feed files stores at server
Till now I worked on various adhock queries, many low, medium and high level incident which tested my knowledge about database, Unix
This system is available in all over world so we need to put impact of the incidents in such a way that business users should not be panic
So communication over mails is another important factor used in this system
Working as application support member I need to take some decisions quickly which can impacted low even in high incidents to our business users
Incident management is one of the important task in ALGO project as it any upstream incident impacted on many downstream systems in various regions
Incident management includes problem specification, the action taken, resolution and notification to different streams and higher management
It is one of the important parts of communication between upstream and downstream systems

Responsibilities:
Requirement Gathering: Understand requirements from users or Business Analysts through emails or scheduled calls
Analysis: Do analysis based on requirements to identify the code changes
Development: Design a new process or do changes in existing Ticketing processes for meeting the requirements
Unit testing and Integration testing: Testing of separate process as well as entire application with changed process
Production Support: Each member is supposed to take care of his/her changes once they are live in production
If we notice any code broken, we have to correct, test and deploy in the emergency fix cycle.
