Work History

Software Quality Principal Engineer

DATA DOMAIN, EMC/DELL
3 2014 - Current
  • Data Domain offers scalable, cloud-ready protection storage for backup, archive, long-term cloud retention and modern disaster recovery

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide devOps services for multiple features within the organization to enable next generation of Data Domain storage with microservices based architecture
  • Create and maintain Dev Unit tests infrastructure, QA functional regression Infra, build, bundle and deployment infrastructure for the microservices based offering with Data Domain.
  • Automate feature tests for continuous regression with the Data Domain OS feature teams. This constitutes python based automation on pytest framework.
  • Work & co-ordinate with cross functional teams and prepare overall test strategy to cover new features/enhancements added in every DDOS branch release to perform feature and system testing for different DDOS features like Long term retention to cloud, Replication, HA, Data Invulnerability Architecture and Cloud Tier Disaster Recovery.
  • Leading automation effort for system test which involves automation test planning, framework design, coding and mentoring team members on product.
  • Prepare detailed reports using tools (JIRA and qtest) on updates to project specifications, progress, identified conflicts and team activities

Key Accomplishments:

  • Lead automation effort for feature test which involves automation test planning, framework design, coding and mentoring team members. This effort reduced manual testing time by 80%.
  • Developed tool for support team to perform Disaster Recovery from data migrated to cloud which helped reducing manual effort of support engineers by 50%.
  • Transition from ruby to python framework which helped most of engineers to readily use/enhance automation framework rather than spending time on learning ruby and using legacy framework.

Member of Technical Staff II

NETAPP INC
08.2010 - 03.2014
  • V-Series Metro-cluster is disaster recovery solution across large geographical area with heterogeneous (non NetApp) storage support.
  • Handled fabric and stretch Metro-cluster configurations with NetApp shelves as well as heterogeneous storage on back end with NetApp filers.
  • Worked on managing new firmware releases and keeping supported firmware up to date - Gathering test requirements - Developing, implementing and executing test plans - Test scripts - Test reports - Test summaries - Ability to read and understand software and/or hardware design specifications
  • Participate in design reviews and make recommendations for product improvements
  • Participate in technical communications within team and with other groups associated with specified projects
  • Configuring testbeds involving storage controllers, switches and IO clients.

Software Test Engineer II

LSI Technologies
09.2006 - 06.2010
  • Worked on controller firmware qualification with enhanced copy, snapshot, migrate and mirror features supported with SAS back end, FC and iSCSI front end.
  • SVM (Storage Virtualization Platform): SAN based device that provides storage virtualization services across heterogeneous hosts, storage, and SAN fabrics). SVM works with native storage to provide replication capabilities within domain, providing local point-in-time copies of data, snapshot view, volume migrate features, synchronous mirroring and asynchronous mirroring capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Identified requirements, designed test cases, executed functional and system stress test scenarios during storage controller firmware qualification.
  • Handled Linux configurations during interoperability testing with LSI’s storage virtualization product

Interoperability testing:

  • Certification of Qlogic multi-pathing driver with SVM and LSI’s Multi-pathing/failover driver (RDAC) with Red Hat, SUSE Linux and Dynamic Multi-Path driver (DMP) with Veritas Volume Manager.
  • Red Hat native clusters certification with LSI's SVM Product.
  • High Availability clusters and Service Guard Cluster with SUSE Linux Certification with SVM.
